No More Heroes tells the story of Travis Touchdown, an animé fan who lives in the fictional town of Santa Destroy, California. After an unexpected turn of events, Travis finds himself being approached by the head hunter of an assassins' organisation. Travis is challenged to prove himself worthy by defeating ten other bloodthirsty killers - all with deep stories of their own - to make his way to the top of the assassins' league.

No More Heroes realises the dream of Wii players everywhere as they can wield the Wii Remote to swing the beam katana and perform spectacular wrestling moves. Suda 51's creation features avant-garde graphics which will thrust players into a stylised world filled with edgier gameplay. Taking its lead from the silver screen, the storyline is riddled with laugh-out-loud violence, black humour and irony-filled dialogue. No More Heroes is a multi-sense video game experience: dark, engaging and pure entertainment!
  • Innovative controls - recharge your weapon by shaking the Wii Remote!
  • Travis's fighting action is uniquely controlled via Wii Remote and the Nunchuk
  • Customise Travis's style with over 170 items of clothing to choose from
  • Play at your own pace with a free roaming environment - chill out at home, head out on assassination missions or hunt down otaku goodies
  • Laugh-out-loud comedy, storyline and wacky characters!

"I want to like this game..."

I usually finish a games main story before passing judgment, but No More Heroes is the type of game that I may never finish, because it becomes extremely difficult extremely fast.
I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just flawed.

Graphics - Nice, but a little idle in places, especially in the repetitive animation.
Sound - Some good sound effects (some lifted from well known popular space-themed franchises), and some entertaining dialog.
Gameplay - Fun but very, very, very challenging.

I really want to like No More Heroes, and it wants us to like it in return, but an unforgiving camera and uncomfortable lock-on system make most of the boss battles a lot harder than they should be. Which is spoiling the game for me.
The boss battles are the core on which the game is based, and I feel that they are made too hard in comparison to the rest of the game.
You can comfortably hack your way through hordes of on coming enemies without breaking a sweat, but as soon as you reach a boss, you need to use strategy, in a game which the control system isn't capable of doing to an acceptable manner.
Which is why it only gets 3 stars from me.
As much fun as I've had so far, I can't see myself doing it again. As soon as I finish it the first time, that's it for me.

WHAT NO MORE RED PIXELS? STILL VERY STYLISH!

Top 100 Games Reviewer

CENSORED. BAH!!!! Who says us brits dont like red? I personally loved Killer7 Sudas first excellent game on the gamecube. Plenty of red in it and way over the top. Find it cheap and buy, its a must.
Now back to No More Heroes, what can I say, yes there are a few flaws, but it is damm excellent to play. No matter how many guys you zap with your laser sword, its just so satisfying and FUN!!!
Learning all the characters moves wrestling, building new swords, side missions and all the excellent visuals just make this game what it is - excellent.
Suda 51 is a fresh breath of air to a rather repetative market. Presentation very retro and the clothing changes and humour throughout make this a must game.
Wii remote use is great, no mad arm breaking sword swinging, it just feels excellent and fresh each takedown, mixed with the mad wrestling moves which can be learned through watching vidoes on your tv.
Oh one big mention is to the excellent music track and video available to watch straight away.....cool
This is a MUST BUY.
Bring on No More Heoroes 2!!!!!!!

Makes A Change From The Usual Tough Guy Image Of Games

Finally a game that doesn't copy every other title released on X-Box 360 & PS3.
This game suprised me as it's probably one of the most surreal yet impressive game I've ever played.
I'd compare the game more to Shenmue than GTA saying that it's a masterpiece that doesn't need an 18 rating in order to sell well and the fact that the main character is an otaku social reject with a cool bike as opposed to the same old muscular man characters often seen in every other game of the same genre makes me feel that the games industry does have original ideas instead of mass producing the same titles with improved features.
I conclude by saying this is my Game of the Year.

 Very stylish

I waited ages for this game to come to the wii and now im playing it i must say its really cool and fun to play. The graphics are good enough for the underpowered wii and they got an out of the comic book look to them which i really like. The combat may seem a little repetetive and boring but i just love hacking and slashing my way through loads of enemies performing finishing moves with your cool beam katana. I also really enjoy travelling aroung the santa Destroy city on your cool looking motorbike taking legit and non-legit jobs to earn cash to pay to fight the next ranked assasin. For me the iceing on the cake has got to be the dark and funny sense of humour thats gone into the script. The Scenes before you engage in combat with the boss assasins really make me laugh. Im loving this game, its really cool and got a slightly original and stylish feel to it.

 Fantastic

Immensly playable, retro chic, would recommend it to any one over 16! Ok, so there is no blood, boo hoo, the nature of the game is stylised to the point where realistic blood splatters would look silly and, more importantly, blood never made a game good, Wu-Tang Feel the Pain for any of the slightly older gamers out there! Only grip I have is with Play.com, I preordered this game and didn't recieve it until the following monday, not really acceptable.
