Having completed the first game on the Wii i was excited to play this follow up and it did not dissapoint. The game improves on so many of its basic features to make the game much more playable, instead of having to shake the Wii remote around to trigger attacks its now made much simpler by using the analog directional pad to activate one of 4 pre assigned moves, much like the PS2 original version. The fusion abilities also enable you to revive characters mid fight, saving the annoyance of losing a key character and having to restart from a checkpoint.
The characters too are an improvement, and the addition of Venom, Gambit and Cyclops (amongst others) was much needed to freshen up the cast, however the attacks of all characters have not really changed from the first game.
Graphic wise it is what it is, it doesnt pretend to be something its not but the cut scenes are nice to watch and the fighting can be manic but alot of fun, with the boss fights adding a basic element of strategy instead of just button bashing.
Instead of using equippable Items they have changed it somewhat and you can pick up medals mid missions that you add to your team one at a time giving them specific group-wide bonuses, such as extra attack strength or extra health or boost in XP earnt, a simpler version of equipping unique items.
The main story is okay, simple explanations and paper thin arguments lead you from one area to the next and you visit many varied locations with differing quests and objectives, however it is relatively short compared to the first one, with a similar number of bonus quests to unlock characters and boost upgrades.
An improvement on the first game (especially for the Wii) with its simple yet colourful design, manic button bashing fighting and updated character list, id recommend if you enjoyed the first one, but story is quite short, and also pretty easy.
