Unlike the evil enemies you fought against in the previous story, in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, players will fight against the characters' own inner demons. Two of the most popular characters in the series and heroes of the beloved Resident Evil 2, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, will be making their return. Continuing in the survival horror tradition, The Darkside Chronicles will increase the thrills and chills with an enhanced two-player co-op mode where players will be able to follow their partners on the same screen. Their conversations and interactions have also been improved to create a more intense co-op experience. A more terrifying experience than ever before, The Darkside Chronicles combines a shaky and realistic handheld camera experience with an eerie soundtrack and creepy sound effects utilising state-of-the-art technology.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

Two-Player Co-Op Shooting: Invite friends and family to experience the horror alongside you in two-player co-op mode.

Revisit Classic Resident Evil Levels: Experience environments and areas from classic Resident Evil titles such as Raccoon City from Resident Evil 2 and the hidden Umbrella laboratory from Resident Evil: Code Veronica, as well as scenarios that will be all new to The Darkside Chronicles.

Fan Favourite Characters Return: Play as Leon S. Kennedy, protagonist of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, his partner Claire Redfield, who appeared in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Customisable Weapons: Players can upgrade and customise their weapons for each battle scenario. Each playable character can be specialised for a specific combat style.

Dynamic Difficulty: In addition to the initial settings of Easy, Normal and Hard, the game's difficulty level will adjust automatically based on the player's skill level so that both old and new fans can have a fun and challenging experience.

Collectibles Galore: For true Resident Evil devotees, archive items such as characters, enemies, old documents and movies can be found throughout the game.

             Resident Evil nostalgia fest!

This is one of the most fun games I have ever played, me and my brother in law have hardly come off it. For an on rails shooter it has an extremely long campaign, I am sure we have been playing atleast 9 hours and we havent completed it yet.

The game retells the events from Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica and also a scenario with Leon and Krauser set before the fourth game. If you were a fan of the old Resident Evil games you will love going through your favourite environments and relieving those battles you did so many years ago.

This is how Resident Evil should be, even though its a light gun game it stays true to how Resident Evil used to be. The atmospheric music and the slow zombies that moan when they are getting nearer. I dont think you even need to be a fan to enjoy this game, I am going to get my mum on it later who has never played Resident Evil in her life.

And for fans of the original soundtrack, it has much of the music from the original games but remixed in a new way.

Overall if you are a fan of Resident Evil or even you are not definitely buy this game, it will provide hours of fun!

             Top sequel

Really enjoyed the first game, Umbrella Chronicles, and played coop with some friends. Instantly ordered this sequel, and we are on the second playthrough as it is so brilliant! As with the first, people are going to mark the game down as it is on rails. But if you don't like on rails, then this is not the game for you!

If on the other hand, you are after a fun, action packed lightgun shooting game with a great story, then this is for you. The graphics are enhanced over the first game, and so is the action. There are lots of trophies to unlock, which adds incentive to play, and wifi leaderboards. I love all things Resident Evil, and enjoyed this as much as RE4 and the earlier games in the series.

Some people may be put off by the camera movement, but none of us found it to detract from the experience - it really added to the tension and action to be honest. All in all, this is a solid game and you can't go wrong. Hope we get more mature titles like this for the Wii.

             A Superb On-Rails shooting experience

            | | See all Briggy's reviews (1)

This game consists of three (3) distinct sections, the main section being a "House of the Dead/Time Crisis" style on-rails retelling of Resident Evil 2. The co-op gameplay is superb and lots of fun with friends and the single player mode is just as fun. The retelling is very accurate for the most part and for the younger amoungst us who missed out on RE2 and Code Veronica this is a great way to get filled in on the story line. Overall this game is a solid purchase for any fans of the Resident Evil storyline or On-Rails shooting fan.
            Highly Recommended.

A sequel to the successful "on rails" shooter, Umbrella Chronicles, Capcom offers up some more gore drenched fun, set in the Resident Evil universe.
I've followed the Resi games since their inception on the Playstation 1 and while not as revolutionary as the original game, Darkside Chronicles has a lot to offer survival horror fans, until Capcom pull their fingers out and produce an official Wii sequel to the brilliant Gamecube/Wii Resident Evil 4(not the utterly dissapointing 5 on 360/PS3 please).
The Darkside Chronicles plot can only be described as convaluted, so making any sense of it is nigh on impossible-but it attemps to fill in some blanks between the action of Resident Evil 2, Code Veronica and bring things bang up to date and acts as a pseudo prequel to the recent Resident Evil 5.
It a shame that recent Wii offerings have dispatched with the puzzle solving attributes of the earlier games, but there can be no denighing that there is emmence pleasure to be had in shooting the zombie hords and mastering those headshots.
Graphically the game is very impressive-particularly in the games many cut-screens and the sprites are detailed and well animated.
Boss battles are less successful-mainly due to the character's weak points being poorly highlighted.
There are plenty of unlockables to discover, which should ensure repeat plays and improves the games addictive nature.
Ultimately Darkside Chronicles is a three and a half stars rated game, which you can increase by half a star, if you are a major Resident Evil fan.

             Revisit the Evil

This is a fantastic remake of both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, with a dual player perspective, although some areas and events are missed out and it's understandable, all things considered that this has two faithful remakes. They do include the most iconic of moments from the games which is great to see updated, and still has that old classic Resident Evil feeling.

A new chapter is also introduced which explores Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4) and Jack Krauser's (Resident Evil 4) first mission together fighting B.O.W's together, this answers some questions about the current storyline, but there are still a lot left not answered in this game.

There are plenty of extras and secrets to be unlocked, a must have for any die hard Resident Evil fan from past to present, quite the challenge in single player and double the fun on co-op. :)
