Resident Evil Archives gives Wii gamers the opportunity to play classic Resident Evil games they may have missed at a great value price. Experience the beginning of the Resident Evil saga with the remake of the game that started the survival horror genre, Resident Evil.

The Raccoon City Police Department doesn't know what happened to the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) team it sent out to investigate the Arklay Mountain area, where a number of people have recently gone missing. The unit's helicopter seems to have crashed in the woods, and it hasn't received any contact from the squad since. The department decides to dispatch another S.T.A.R.S. unit, the Alpha team, to check things out... but something goes terribly wrong.

You take control of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team members Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine (both recently seen in the smash hit, Resident Evil 5). Your mission is to investigate the ominous mansion at the core of the horrific disaster and uncover the secrets behind a radical, genetic research facility. With unspeakable horrors lurking around every corner, the ultimate test will be to make it out alive!

The Original, Reborn: This is a Wii-version of the classic 'Resident Evil' remake, originally released on GameCube in 2002 which featured new rooms, areas, items and creatures that were not included in the PlayStation original released in 1996.

Survival of the Fittest: Battle against putrid zombies, infected dogs and horrific gigantic bosses as you struggle to survive.

Defense Weapons: Defensive weapons protect characters when being attacked.

Your Favourite Resident Evil Characters on the Wii: Play as Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, who each uncover two completely different paths as they explore deep within the horrific mansion.

In-Depth Puzzles: Solve dangerous, intricate puzzles and uncover terrifying secrets.

More than 10 Different Game Endings: Unique endings dependent upon play decisions and successes.

As a big fan of the Resi Evil games for me this one is most terrifying out the lot, not just that but the overall gameplay , graphics, sound and story are superb, a must for all fans.

The only thing scarier than the zombies..

          ..are the controls.

Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil is essentially a port of the Gamecube remake a few years ago. This is no bad thing, when the GC remake was released it had a terrifying atmosphere, astounding graphics and a whole bunch of extras.

The only problem is that true resident evil fans probably already own it, with no added extras or control options, there's no real reason for them to pick this one up again. For new commers to the series it's a double-edged sword, it's a real treat to play through such a polished port, however those that started with the fantastic Resi 4 scheme will be truly shocked with the archaic controls that this port offers.

At £17, this game is worth picking up for any Resident Evil fan, so long as you're aware that the controls are going to take a lot of adjustment (and really, they need to be played with a GC pad) then it could well be the best game you buy all year ;)

           great game

The first thing you should know is, if you own the game cube version of this game then there is basically no difference. With the exception of a few new unlockables for completing the game in a set time limit it's a straight transfer. However if you have never played this game, or the extended cube version, which is very different to RE1 on PS2, then I would recommend getting it. The story is fantastic and the game play great. Controls can be a bit fiddly, but you can use controller with or without nunchuck, Wii pad and even the cube pad so there is bound to be some control option to suit your playing style. And try playing it in a dark room, on your own with the sound up, I dare you not to jump, just once. Especially as you can walk down a corridor several times and nothing will happen, however at a certain moment something will jump out on you and scare the living bejesus out of you. Brilliant! The reason for four stars is because of the lack of new content. An all time classic that I'm glad is now on the wii. I guess with this out now and RE0 out in October it's time to sell my cube!

           sorry

this game was great on the ps1, when re released on wii i thought it would be even better, i expected the wii controls to be intergrated into the game play, how wrong was i!
i kind of hoped this would of had more of a res4 feel, i was utterly disappointed! and will not be buyin the future archive res evil games, keep the memories of the origional as that origional very poor re release origional would be 5 stars sadly this has put the rating way down, please just buy retro version if you still have gamcube or ps1

           Resident Evil does it again!!

Another classic from the Res Evil games! Played Res Evil 4, was hooked instantly!! Couldn't wait for this one to be released. Played it on DS but not as good as on the Wii. Controls are a bit weird to get used to but you soon get the hang of them. Some very scary bits and on the edge of your seat stuff but that's what makes the Resident Evil games so good!! Defo recommend you buy this if you're into platform games and at £17.99, it's a snatch!!! Enjoy if you dare!! Mwah ha ha ha!!!
