If you wont controlls that are easy then head for a GameCube addiction its exactly the same but Cubed. You can play gamecube games on your Wii so just get Cube version if you hate the controlls. Thank you.

Being a fan of resident evil- i was keen to get archives on the wii-there is no doubt that the graphics are fab the atmosphere superbly spooky etc, but i did struggle a lot with the controls , which was a shame as it ruined my experience.I would still recommend this game though, and despite the control issue i will still persevere with it

  The original and best!

Im a massive fan of the original so thought Id give this a try. I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is very creepy and suspensful. The music is great and the nostalgia from replaying all my favourite scenes again brought back so many memories. I highly recommend this if you loved the original.

P.S.
The 4:3 acpect ratio can be changed by setting your Wii to 4:3 and your TV to widescreen.

  Amazing game!

I have always been a very big fan of the Resident Evil series, and completed the original of this game on the PS1. Considering this game came out on Gamecube in 2002, it has the best graphics I have ever seen.

I dont understand people's issue's with the controls they are no problem at all, infact they are alot easier on the wii than I thought. If you have never played the original Resident Evil then I highly recommend you getting this game to discover where it all began. Even if you completed the PS1 version many times still buy it, even if you knew the first game off by heart, many things have changed on the remake.

Overall a brilliant game with excellent graphics and atmosphere.

It's a Classic and you know it.

I'd be very surprised if this is your first encounter with the franchise. If it is you may be in for a shock. Effectively this is a 7yr old remake of a game that was released in 1996, and you can tell. BUT that's not necessarily a bad thing. The thing everyone comments on is the controls. Having played the original it's no issue for me. Please don't let that be the reason you don't buy this game. If you could run around freely, the tiny corridor, zombie encounters would be nowhere near as tense.
At first I thought the visuals were a bit poor but it grows on you as you can't compare it to games now. It adds to the already scary atmosphere. This wouldn't be remade over and over if it wasn't a great game.
The ONLY reason it gets 4 stars is that its only available in a 4:3 screen and not widescreen. I do find myself straining a bit sometimes to see it all clearly.
Overall it's a must buy for more serious Wii gamers!

The only thing scarier than the zombies..

..are the controls.

Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil is essentially a port of the Gamecube remake a few years ago. This is no bad thing, when the GC remake was released it had a terrifying atmosphere, astounding graphics and a whole bunch of extras.

The only problem is that true resident evil fans probably already own it, with no added extras or control options, there's no real reason for them to pick this one up again. For new commers to the series it's a double-edged sword, it's a real treat to play through such a polished port, however those that started with the fantastic Resi 4 scheme will be truly shocked with the archaic controls that this port offers.

At £17, this game is worth picking up for any Resident Evil fan, so long as you're aware that the controls are going to take a lot of adjustment (and really, they need to be played with a GC pad) then it could well be the best game you buy all year ;)

This is the best game since resi 4 (i played 5 on the xbox and was dissapointed). Its scary and a challenge too. Its supposed to take about 5 hours to complete but it took me longer and thats no great shame as completing it make you want more games like this. The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that the graphics are a little poor and there is no great improvement in content from resi 4.

Another classic from the Res Evil games! Played Res Evil 4, was hooked instantly!! Couldn't wait for this one to be released. Played it on DS but not as good as on the Wii. Controls are a bit weird to get used to but you soon get the hang of them. Some very scary bits and on the edge of your seat stuff but that's what makes the Resident Evil games so good!! Defo recommend you buy this if you're into platform games and at £17.99, it's a snatch!!! Enjoy if you dare!! Mwah ha ha ha!!!

this game was great on the ps1, when re released on wii i thought it would be even better, i expected the wii controls to be intergrated into the game play, how wrong was i!
i kind of hoped this would of had more of a res4 feel, i was utterly disappointed! and will not be buyin the future archive res evil games, keep the memories of the origional as that origional very poor re release origional would be 5 stars sadly this has put the rating way down, please just buy retro version if you still have gamcube or ps1

The first thing you should know is, if you own the game cube version of this game then there is basically no difference. With the exception of a few new unlockables for completing the game in a set time limit it's a straight transfer. However if you have never played this game, or the extended cube version, which is very different to RE1 on PS2, then I would recommend getting it. The story is fantastic and the game play great. Controls can be a bit fiddly, but you can use controller with or without nunchuck, Wii pad and even the cube pad so there is bound to be some control option to suit your playing style. And try playing it in a dark room, on your own with the sound up, I dare you not to jump, just once. Especially as you can walk down a corridor several times and nothing will happen, however at a certain moment something will jump out on you and scare the living bejesus out of you. Brilliant! The reason for four stars is because of the lack of new content. An all time classic that I'm glad is now on the wii. I guess with this out now and RE0 out in October it's time to sell my cube!
