Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is a next-generation, third-person action game set in Middle-earth that explores an original story of vengeance and redemption.

In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, gamers take on the role of Talion, a valiant ranger whose family is slain in front of him the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor, moments before his own life is taken. Resurrected by a Spirit of vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities, Talion ventures into Mordor and vows to destroy those who have wronged him. Through the course of his personal vendetta, Talion uncovers the truth of the Spirit that compels him, learns the origins of the Rings of Power and ultimately confronts his true nemesis.

Every enemy that players face is a unique individual, differentiated by their personality, strengths and weaknesses. Through the Nemesis System, enemy relationships and characteristics are shaped by player actions and decisions to create personal archenemies that remember and adapt to the player and are distinct to every gameplay session. Gamers are able to craft their own battles, enemies and rewards within the dynamic world that remembers and adapts to their choices, delivering a unique experience to every player.

The game arrived the day before its release so I was happy about that. At first I struggled to get into the game. It seemed as though as soon as you ran into some danger which didnt take long I was ill equipped to deal with it. I think it was just a lot to take in all at once. Especially when fighting Captains I was really getting mauled. Theres a battle at every turn in this game. Pretty much everything in Mordor is trying to kill you. Orcs. Uruks. Graugs...huge troll like creatures. Ghuls...beasts that emerge suddenly from the ground in large swarms and Caragors...giant dogs kinda like Wargs. I persevered with the game began to level up and now I feel much more capable and confident when running around Mordor without worrying about getting owned so much.

In the game you have the main story and basically loads of side missions that can change depending on how you play the game. The Orcs and Uruks all have a pecking order or a chain of command if you like. After youre typical foot soldiers you have Captains. Veteran Captains and Elite Captains. They all serve Warchiefs. Veteran Warchiefs and Elite Warchiefs. As whichever of them get killed during the game others will be promoted through the ranks to take their places as time goes on. Sometimes youll fight 1 youve already fought either they killed you or they escaped. Thats right, because you basically a wraith and so youre already dead if youre killed you dont actually die, but the game continues as though you did. You return to the tower where you started the game and go again. The character that killed you will be promoted for doing so and will receive more power so theyll be more difficult next time you fight them. If you beat them and they run off or somehow survive they will hold a grudge against you and seek revenge. Each character is also unique. I know you hear that about a lot of games and it turns out to be fairly poor but in this the enemies you fight will remember and taunt you or hold a grudge etc. It makes it more personal which adds to the fun.

The only gripe I have with the game is that even though its an open world go where you like game the main campaign story line is fairly specific about what you have to do with very little free roaming play once youve started the mission. Its very easy to stray from the objective only slightly and have to restart the whole mission. However you can start the main story missions whenever you like. The map size isnt huge but theres loads to do. Your character...Talion has wraith like abilities. They can be a bit tricky to master at first but like anything you get the hang of it eventually. You can use your abilities to capture and interrogate enemies for info on the whereabouts of Captains and Warchiefs. Killing them gives you xp and other bonuses but its just a lot of fun. You can approach the situation with stealth or you can run in all hot and heavy sword swinging button banging. I mostly use stealth, climbing around recon...ing the landscape, position of enemy troops etc. Most of the Captains and Warchiefs have bodyguards so its a lot of fun just patiently picking them off then unleashing hell against the main guys. They all also have various strengths and weaknesses. You can learn these and use them against the enemy. It reminds me alot of the original Tenchu game on the PS, which was an awesome game. Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor is a very good game. Playing it you feel like youre immersed in whats going on in Mordor. The graphics are superb with very realistic weather. The game mechanics seem to work perfectly with no bugs or glitches that Ive noticed. Its a good story line. Theres lots to do and I'm sure they'll add more and improve the game further with DLC.

This is a really good game outstanding graphics, although the fighting is tricky at first this gets easier the more you play. Its good to see a game at last that lives upto what the XBOX ONE can deliver 10/10 give it ago.

 Amazing open world and combat!

This is not meant to be a review, just a rating. I'm loving this game! Takes a few hours to get into the groove and unlock some new skills that make the combat easier, after that the game hits its strive and is amazing! Highly recommended!
