 Dissapointed

I absolutley loved the first dragon age because of it's story. It had me stuck in right from the begining and had a great feeling of scale , that the whole world would end if you didnt do something. Dragon age 2 massively disapointed me as i was just waiting for a massive plot to start but it just never happened , things just kind of happen with no build up. By the middle of the game i was only left playing purely out of being stubborn and wanting to complete it for the sake of it.

Pros: Better graphics and gameplay
Cons: Everything feels like a side quest, lame characters , Not being able to give your companions stuff you can't use any way, no build up to big events they just happen, same city throughout is so boring and everything from dragon age origins pretty much accounts for nothing. Oh and Hawke is a douche, genuinley prefered my silent character from origins!

Dragon age? more like city rage

i got this game about 4 days ago and i manged to complete it in 25 hours play time time i liked the combat system witch was a major upgrade to the first game but the lack of effort in game size for 80% of the game all you do is run around the city of kirkwall and when you do manage to get outside an explore it is very small and all the cave for so called diffrent quests are the same bioware have been really lazy with this witch is why i rate this a 3 star. this game is for a rent or i would w8 around for it to drop in price

 Not Based on Demo

Having recieved DA2 early for some reason and played for a while now I have to say everything about it's perfect, the new graphics engine, the linear story aspect which you change drastically, the controls, the combat, everything.
Every other review comments about the demo, DON'T DO THAT! The demo to this is dumbed down and missing a lot out, (class trees, characters, abilities, fights, scenes, dialogue options, customization) The demo is basically nothing like the main game, so don't bother comparing the two.
The best thing so far for me has to be the story, which is epic, allowing you to live 10 years in the life of Hawke, who has to become the champion of Kirkwall, battling demons, darkspawn and encountering many DA:O staples, (Alistair and your character return if they were made king and queen, , Flemeth, Anders, Wynne's funeral is in the game etc.)
The character models are now also amazing, in Origins only dwarves looked different, now elves are taller than humans and look drastically different, humans look beautiful and dwarves just look like little humans, without long hair and facial hair littering the place.
The new speech system meanwhile is amazing, my only gripe is it shows what your chosen action will do, which is a bit silly, but does help a lot if you want a good char overall. Also, the conversations work a lot better, as because your char can talk a lot more emotion is shown and better voice acting has been employed, no Z-Grade acting here, it's all A-Grade, one actress whose A-Grade and voices many games is back here, but I shan't say who, (Morrigan ;))
Finally, the longevity, the game is very long, very interesting and doesn't feel like a Mass Effect clone as much as Origins did, in the end i'd suggest buying this, it's amazing, the demo is nowhere near as good as the main game! TBH, the demo is rubbish

 Good but....

Do not get me wrong this game is good but it does not live up to the first. The game does feel more like a buch of side quests put together, although the missions are fun you can't help but think where is the plot in all of this? The gaphics are good and i do really like the new combat system. The dialog is great, what you would expect from a bio-ware game and i really like how the main charcter now talks. But overall this does not beat the first one in my books. If you have not played number one i recommend you play that one first there's a reason why it was game of the year 2009 plus 50 winning awards..

 disappointing

I love Dragon Age: Origins and really looked forward to this and I have to say its really disappointed!
Through out the whole game it seems bioware have shoved a majority of there budget into graphics and the rest they have just said "That'll do"!
The characters and story are weak, not like the first where you really wanted to know what happens next and cared what happend to your team.
My biggest issue is the locations for the missions, they look good but there tiny compared to the first game and often the same map used over and over!
People keep saying the combat system is radically improved but its exactly the same, not that I mind, I liked the old system so one good point!
To sum up Its an ok game with a weak story and weak characters, just a shame that this is all they came up with to follow Dragon age: Origins which was a really great game with great story, better luck next time Bioware :(
