There can be no doubt that this is a beautifully made game, the graphics are superb, probably the best I've ever seen, and the sound is excellent. The main problem with dirt 2 was, I felt, the lack of rally an the lack of cars, this has been amended in dirt 3 with 60% of career made up of rally. There is also a much wider variety of cars than in either Dirt 1 or 2. Another great addition is the lighting changes, night races are truley outstanding and provide a great challenge. unfortunately it's not all great news, the rally stages are mostly ridiculously short (around 1-2 minutes) and ludicrously wide, theres none of the on the edge excitement that you got from Dirt 1 where you knew that going just a little bit too fast could throw you off the course. All in all then a very good, and very well made game but one that leaves you just slightly disappointed. 7/10

Bought this game as I loved the original Colin Mcrae games on PS2. Played it and tried to like it but dont like the handling, or gymkhana. I say tray and hire it as I am trading mine in.

Make no mistake this is a great game. The visuals, sound and presentation are world class. But as alwasy's from codemasters it does leave you slightly disappointed. The handling of the cars is a vast improvement over previous games in the series, however still not quite there yet, no matter what surface your on the car feels the same. My main gripe is the tracks themselves, i mean this is rally right? so how come there isnt a single rock or boulder on the track or in any ditchs? no potholes? not so much as a leaf or twig.... The tracks are pretty boring and far to short and i may be wrong but is there about 4 tracks in total that get repeated or reversed? only in the latter stages of the game does it get a little more exciting, but only just. Apart from the tracks it is a good game that could of been great. Still its definatly progress and im sure codemasters will nail it before long.

Brilliant game, highly recommend this to anyone who likes any type of racing game. I own dirt 1 and dirt 2, but this is the best for me, rally can be little easy but turn off all the assists and it becomes a lot harder. Online is truly brilliant as well, there is so much to do. Plus the new gymkhana events are great fun, and break thee game up nicely. Ps get a steering wheel best game for it I've played.

I have all the dirts and this may well be the best of the lot

Lots of rally ( although the more I play the more sections I notice are repeated)

Still has those awful buggies and trucks although the dont feature to much

Some of the graphics are the best I have seen in a racing game

Night races are really good although would be better if you could smash the head lights

some real good races to be had online.

Its still not as good as the early codemasters rally games on PS1 and Ps2 but I would say its the best rally game on the x box maybe even the best driving game.

Atleast its not all lapping battersey power station like it was in 2

People who are giving this a poor rating have got to be off there heads! DiRT3 is amazing! the graphics are the best ive seen for a long while on a racer. Car detail is superb! As for the game, gymkhana is amazing and offers a superb challenge to get platinum medals for each discipline! (bob-sleigh challenge is amazing!) as for the usual rally, rally cross, trailblazer, raid and land rush etc. they are much better than there predecessors!! tracks are good and the online play offers great fun! especially in party mode, cat n mouse and invasion are my personal favourites.

Drifting round a long sweeping bend at 100mph in Kenya with the sun coming down is truly a sight to behold in Dirt 3. The visuals are beautiful and the audio is also fantastic weather its the awesome soundtrack or the crunching of snow beneath your wheels. There are plenty of cars from Ken Block's Ford Fiesta WRC car to the original Mini to rally legends like the Lancia Delta Dirt 3 has it all. There are a great variety of events like the all new Gymkhana a free styling event which I love as well as a nice bunch of rally events. The weather changes and time of day are a great addition. However this game does have a couple of downsides. No.1 Landrush. Seriously Codemasters? Why keep the event hardly anyone likes and No.2 The lack of locations. Dirt 2 had about 12 different places where as this has about 5. There are a lot of different circuits for each location but there should have been more. Apart from this however Dirt 3 is an amazing game. If you're a true hardcore rally fan this probably is NOT for you. You'll hate the gymkhana and wonder why the rally stages are so short with few bumps and potholes. However if all you care about is driving pleasure and having fun then Dirt 3 is perfect.

This game is fantastic, it takes everything from the previouse installments and makes it better.
The addition of stunt driving i.e doughnuts, air, drifting etc really mixes things up and puts this game on par with PGR, GRID etc.
The cars handle beautifully for the most part and when you get used to it you can perform some truly flashy moves.
They have even thrown in Tony Hawks type stages which kick off in battersea powerstation which is great...complete challenges etc
The basic game is also great, once you get to gripps with the handelling it is fantastic. Codmasters are the only developer who can challenge and match Bizzare!
