Race Driver: Grid

Having played the full game, all I can say is WOW!!
Grid is all about racing and it's as simple as that, I know that there are the FORZA and PGR gamers and this is going to be compared a lot, but Grid is totally different and should not be compared to the other driving titles out there.
Grid is a new type of driving game, Grid is the Sweet spot between Driving Sim and Arcade Fun. Grid makes sure that every player on the track is equal to every other player on the track, this means that if you come first, its down to your skill at driving and not having a car that has been set up using a third party suspension calculator.
Grid is also a lot more forgiving than other Driving games for the simple reason that the game wants you to spend more time on the track and less time in the gravel.
Its also one of the easiest driving games to pickup as my 2 year old Daughter has proved on several occasions,
Driving around in Grid is very friendly compared to playing PGR and Forza,
and anyone who finds RaceDriver GRID to hard to handle should box up there 360 and start making bird tables instead.
Grid also has plenty to offer, with over 45 vehicles like the Dallara Formula 3
To the Lamborghini murcielago, yes 45 may not seem a Hugh amount of cars to own but grid isn't about collecting cars its about racing them.
It also has over 15 tracks with your standard variants of reverse, large and small.
And the game covers many driving disciplines like
Open-wheel track cars, Muscle cars
Japanese sports-cars, Touring cars, Pro Touge
Drift Battles and Demolition Derbies.
Though I have to admit that I don't enjoy the Drift Racing, I know there are many good players who have discovered that this is the way drift games are meant to be played, not like your Need For Speed titles or PGR4 or Ridge Racer,
Touring Cars seems to be the staple diet of the online world,
But for the players who want to have a complete riot online then may I suggest the USA Demolition Derby against 12 other players, DD is a no holds bared figure 8 track where your only task is to be the first to cross the line by any means.
Race driver for me is what driving games should be, all about; FUN.
Its easy to play even for a 2 year old yet challenging enough for a seasoned pro.

Also those reviewers saying the game stutters, it Sound like your 360 is running to hot. This runs smooth with zero slow down and no stuttering graphics on my premium console. Keep your 360 well ventilated and free of Dust build up that should stop any graphic stuttering as this is a graphically demanding game that pushes your consol.

This game is thoroughly enjoyable and incredibly realistic. You don't have to break 100 metres in advance to turn the corners like in Forza 2 and your car actually responds to damage unlike PGR4. While Forza may be more realistic in terms of driving experience, who wants to drive sensibly?!
That's what this game is all about, you can drive like a maniac and your car responds to any form of damage, even if it's just scraping against a wall. The replays are stunning and use the different camera angles very well.
People have complained about it being too hard and that the AI are too good. The truth is that it's just realistic, the AI do overtake each other and do make mistakes which makes it all the more fun and challenging. You have to have a degree of sensibility about your driving in terms of cornering, if you break too hard at the last second you will spin your car, or if you brake too late and hope to just bounce off the barrier, you won't. Your car will completely respond to any contact, and crashes will affect the performance and appearance of the car. This maintains a sense of realism while keeping the arcade fun feeling of being able to go round a corner at 100mph (maybe a slight exaggeration).
Overall this game has it all, incredible graphics and physics, fun driving experience, clever AI and spectacular crashes! What more could you want?

How can I explain that GRID IS A FUN DRIVING GAME!
Let's start by saying that Mario cart is a good fun driving game,
It's not a realistic driving game and the handling is nothing like Forza but its dam good fun. And everyone can play it.

Now lets Say Forza is a Realistic driving game with realistic handling and only for the hardcore driving fans.

That's the problem there are those gamers who want to play good racing games but due to the nature of Forza, it's a very unforgiving driving game, make a mistake on a corner and that's it you're pretty much left out of the race. And again if you don't know how to set up cars or use a Suspension calculator for racing, then the cars are slow and awful to drive. Ask any Forza fan, you need to know how to set up your cars.

Now try and imagine a game with the fun of Mario Cart and the driving of forza?
A tall order I know but go with me on this one!
It's hard to tell you what's right about Grid, maybe it's the handling of the cars, the fact that they don't slide off the track like they do in Forza when you approach that corner too late. Cars in Grid are very responsive and will let you take that corner at a faster speed, maybe doing a slight drift that looks very natural in the replays
Maybe it's the graphics that make the game look beautiful with the dappled sunlight shining through the gaps in between the buildings as you roar down some straight in a City Circuit,
Maybe it's the animated spectators that cheer roar and boo as you go past them.
I'm sure that there are the hardcore driving gamers out there that feel this isn't a proper driving game and they would be right it was never meant to be but there is no need to give it a 1 star rating.
Grid is that sort of game that when you are in a race of 11 other players its just good fun and you know you have a good chance of getting around the track with all the other players. Grid lets the players spend more time on the track and doesn't penalise the players that end up in the gravel to much.
Now this is will annoy my fellow 360 players and start you all marking this review negatively. I think that Race driver Grid is equal in fun and playability the greatest Driving game available! Gran Turismo. Codemasters have always gone head to head against Polyphony Digitals driving game series ever since GT first turned up on the old PS1. And each time Codemasters have managed to give that little extra. Grid allows you to smash up your cars and show the damage unlike GT though

So to sum it up.
GRID is fun,,, it's a driving game for those gamers who want to play a decent driving game but found the likes of Forza just too hard. But it's also for those gamers, who have finished Forza and want to play something new until another driving game turns up.

If you like PGR3 and Forza2 then you will like this. I played it at Play.com/live on Saturday and Sunday and it was so good. It has great computer A.I, Graphics are amazing and car handling is really good. Pre-order it now!

Well i must admit im not the a great fan of racing games but i played this round my mates and was hooked after one race i went and brought it on the way home. graphics are amazingly real and the AI on the harder settings is as real as ul get to being a real racing driver. online is great as u can total ur mates car from the starting grid. 10/10a must have!!!
