In Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi prepare to dive into the world of the Dragon Ball manga, TV anime, films and video games head first, with brand new content and game play, a comprehensive character line up and faithful manga style graphics.

Development team Spike Co. Ltd. in Japan, the talented people responsible for sustaining the incredible worldwide success of the franchise over the past 6 years, have taken a new approach this time round, with the aim of creating a new landmark in the Dragon Ball videogame series. They've poured all their ki energy into upgrading the character and environment graphics, with character designs drawn straight from the original DBZ manga series, and totally destructible battle fields, including realistic craters and Kamehameha tracers cutting across the sky, delivering a heightened sensation of realism and dynamic immediacy.

Featuring the original Japanese voiceover and music, the enhanced story mode will immerse players in the rich variety of the Dragon Ball universe, where every element of the battle will thrill. The game will also include a special mode which allows the player to experience the brand new age of Dragon Ball Z. The controls are being designed to bring the experience closer to the previous Tenkaichi series, making the play accessible to all, but retaining all the tactical depth in battle.

 Flawed but Great Game

Gameplay is a lot different from all other Dragonball fighting games for any console. In a way it requires more planning and stratagy than the others as you have to plan your attacks leading up to others.
The game has so many flaws cause Spikes Licence for the Dragonball games series is up, same happened when Burst Limit(Wasn't Spikes Game) came along, lack of characters and rushed in general for release. They were focused on Graphics and redoing the entire Anime cutscenes which are not taken from the Remastered or Kai. Lack of characters is easily made up with DLC but missing out Base forms and other transformations important characters seemed a little too far. (EG; Teen Gohan, Adult Gohan, Gotenks(Base) Goten and Trunks, Vegito(Base), Vegeta(SSJ2),Super Buu(Gotenks Absorbed) and so on. Even omitting Uub and both SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta concidering they have SSJ4 Gogeta. I was dissapointed when i saw the character line up a few weeks before release.

Story Mode is your usual play through the motions of the Z series with some movie and GT mixed in.
Hero Mode in my opinion is a great idea, finally... Custom Characters. Pitty its just Male Saiyans and Hero Mode is fairly short but requires a lot of grinding to even have a hope of completing this mode as it is extremely hard. AI is utterly ruthless.

Ive been getting Dragonball Games since i was 12 when i picked up Final Bout for the PS, this is one hell of a change, if you don't like change, i wouldn't reccomend this but any diehard Dragonball fan wouldn't pass this up as its something new rather than spamming Super/Ultimate moves over and over to win.

Giving it a 4/5 cause of the lack of characters mainly but Spike will hopefully keep the Licence and make another similar. I do hope future releases keep the Character Creation as again its a nice change and ive been wanting it myself for a long time.

 Fresh and Brilliant

I don't understand the bad reviews?

Yes the game lacks some vital characters, but I don't think at all it takes away from the new gameplay, incredible graphics and groundbreaking hero mode. Most of us were getting sick and tired of the same old dragon ball games, but this new style is easy to get the hang of and so much more impressive. Gameplay is truer to the original dragon ball with super attacks causing mass destruction and being set off scarcely, with the impact break engine looking phenomenal. The story mode with free roam and anime cut scenes is the best story mode ever for a dragon ball game in my opinion- and it doesn't miss out the slightest of information from the story.

Bandai, just get the characters of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and this game would be the best dragon ball game ever.

 Reason not to buy game

This game has changed so much compared to the other newer dragonball games I have. I would recommend it as a no buy. Dislike the fight mode and I really feel let down. Also it didn't have the characters all the other games did.
