In 1996, the original Tomb Raider was launched. The 3D game design, controls and graphics were truly ground breaking for their time. Furthermore, gamers were also presented with a unique, female human playable character with whom they could become emotionally attached, Lara Croft. The original Tomb Raider sold over seven million copies and is still heralded as an absolute classic and one of the best action adventure games ever!

Inspired by the original Tomb Raider video game; Tomb Raider: Anniversary faithfully preserves the elements which made the original Tomb Raider game such a classic.

Using an enhanced "Tomb Raider: Legend" game engine, the graphics, technology and physics bring Lara's adventure and pursuit of a mystical artefact known only as the Scion right up to today's technology standards and will offer gamers a completely new gameplay experience.

Celebrate and commemorate ten years of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft with Tomb Raider: Anniversary, an entirely new gameplay experience inspired by the first ever Tomb Raider adventure.

Play the living Lara Croft, the world's greatest action heroine of all time - use all of Lara's guile, athleticism and gadgets in her quest to conquer the unknown and uncover ancient artefacts.

Includes classic environments from the original Tomb Raider as never experienced before: Crystal Dynamics latest technology allows you to fluidly manoeuvre Lara using her latest moves and gear, through all the worlds from the original - Peru, Greece, Egypt and more. The dynamic world allows multiple playthrough options and also opens up new places and ways to explore.

Explore uncharted and mysterious worlds: Enter into strange, undiscovered lands and solve their deepest, darkest mysteries, open doors to new realms, uncover great rewards and unearth secrets to Lara's past.

Startling enemy encounters: Encounter fierce animal and supernatural enemies, wolves, bears, crocodiles, horrific monsters and the T Rex. New and improved AI means that all enemies will exhibit a more diverse behaviour set, providing improved combat challenges for the player.

If you liked Tomb Raider Legend, but found it was over too quickly then this is the game for you. If you loved the original Tomb Raider and like me think that no other game in the series has measured up to it. Then this is the game for you. If you like action adventure games with some taxing puzzles, then this is the game for you. I have played the PS2 version and it rocks, with the 360's power this version should blow it out of the water. I found myself back in 1996, you walk into each environment and the memories come flooding back, they are not the same as before and yet some how feel very familiar. My only complaint with the game is that it has gone too far from the Legend game engine. By that I mean that Legend was too much if you jump and are facing in vaguely the right direction you will grab the rope or ledge. This did become a little annoying, this game has tried to correct that and has gone too far the other way. It is a truly great game, but be prepared to go over the same ground over and over again until you get it spot on.

         Brilliant value, gorgeous game

I loved the original, and this is a classy remake, with the usual awe-inspiring caverns waterfalls and dungeons. It ISN'T a con title, it IS a remake of the first Tomb Raider game, where Lara is hired to find the Atlantean Scion, only to be betrayed by the businesswoman who hired her.

So, if you're thinking that a tiger, bats, and a "castle" where in the beginning of the Tomb Raider saga then you're wrong, and mistakenly remembering Tomb Raider 2 (the "castle" was supposed to be a section of the Great Wall of China).
Basically this is a huge amount of fun for 15 quid, with nice unlockable secrets to boot.
And just to clarify, it really IS a remake of TR1.

I played this on ps2 and loved it.On xbox 360 it is even better with next-gen touches you can really notice.I like it also that the game has got a proper fair price i think £24.99 is a fair price not £39.99-£49.99 like other new titles. This game is alot harder to complete than previous tomb raider games as well which is a bonus,in all a great purchase for your 360 and recomended.

The Challenge of a life time

Gameplay (9/10) - Each level took me several minutes to complete and along with artifact and relec hunting comes even more gameplay! Certainly one to keep you entertained for a long time.

Graphics (8/10) - Great backgrounds and detailed atmospheres - more work could have been placed in to the Lara's look i.e. weapons and the enemies she faces.

Achievements (6/10) - Achievements can be easily achieved for picking up certain weapons, but certain achievements such as find all relics and artifacts on one level is very time consuming.

Overall (8/10) - A well worth purchase for any Tomb Raider, but still not up there with such Tomb Raider classics as The Last Relevation or Tomb Raider II.

This is easily one of my all-time favourite games! I loved the first Tomb Raider for the PS1 but was put off the series when they started taking out the actual 'tomb raiding' element. Lara became a city girl and i didn't like that. As an old school Lara fan, i was very very impressed with this game! It stays true to the original while updating it significantly. The achievements are challenging to get and the 360 version even comes with a bonus content DVD, whereas with other versions you need to buy the special editions. A truly fantastic game! I can't wait for Underworld! Bring back the old school Lara!!
