Acclaimed action director John Woo presents Stranglehold, a stunning third-person action adventure videogame. A "spiritual sequel" to Woo's action masterpiece, "Hard Boiled," Stranglehold redefines the action gaming experience with its acrobatic gunplay, thrilling cinematography, frenetic combat and incredible Massive Destructibility. Chow Yun-Fat reprises his signature role as Inspector Tequila, pitting gamers as a take no-prisoners cop waging a personal war with Hong Kong crime lords. Tequila's loyalties to the force are tested when his ex-wife is kidnapped by the Russian mob in Chicago. Tequila struggles to balance his duty to uphold the law with doing what it takes to save his family.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

Hyper-Stylised Action: Stranglehold allows gamers to play a John Woo directed action blockbuster movie. Dual-wielding, stunt-laden gunplay combined with massive destructible environments ensures that Stranglehold is a true tour-de-force. The environmental interactivity and two-fisted gunplay all come online, bringing the experience to a whole new level.

Amazing Gunplay & Stunts: Gamers will experience smooth flowing gameplay, such as running up railings, swinging on chandeliers and leaping onto moving objects, all without interrupting intense gun battles.

Blockbuster Hollywood Talent: Featuring the cinematic flare of acclaimed action director John Woo, Stranglehold also benefits from Woo's direction on storyline, camera placement and cutscenes. Starring international action-star Chow Yun-Fat as Inspector Tequila, the game's cast is also comprised of other A-list Hollywood talent.

Ground-Breaking Technology: Massive D, the innovative physics engine, provides gamers with an unprecedented level of interactivity. With two huge areas to explore (Chicago and Hong Kong), the interactions are infinite with each level offering massive amounts of destructibility.

Innovative Tequila Time Mechanics: Stranglehold's inventive combat camera and Tequila Time slow-motion system allow players to simultaneously aim and shoot at the current target while driving, providing for robust gunplay combat between vehicles.

Unreal 3.0 & Havok: Using a highly modified version of the Unreal 3.0 engine integrated with the Havok physics system, Stranglehold breathes new life into game environments and characters with stunning graphics, and features an ever-changing battleground depending on how players approach different scenarios.

I would normally try to think of something positive to say about a game but sadly I am at a loss. The A.I. is terrible, enemies will stand still under overhanging signs and other overhead perils and wait for that inevitable crushing feeling ...hmm. The levels are very basic! The story is a typical revenge, save the world type. The gameplay is repetitive. The gameplay is repetitive. The gameplay is repetitive. The gameplay is repetitive.

             Top One!

Yes - It may remind of of Max Payne, but this game is by far a better game.
I have only played the demo, but I thought it was excellent. I would say that this is a must buy for the 360 and I don't think you will be disappointed.

             Enjoyable but short

Bought this yesterday and finished it on the normal setting in four hours. Gameplay is fast and furious and definitely enjoyable. Whether you'll get your money's worth on this depends on how willing you are to replay.

However there is very little here that has not been done before (and arguably better) in Max Payne 2. While the graphics are good, the camera and controls do not match the standards of MP2, and the story Stranglehold tells is poorly written and acted.

I don't want to appear too down on the game as I enjoyed it despite the lack of length. Stranglehold is the game equivalent of a bargin bin action movie. Whether that's a positive or negative is all down to you! :)

             closest thing to max payne

This game rocks and was very overlooked when it came out,i had a right good time playing it.
Now its budget price, any old skool shooter/max payne fan should deffo pick it up.

             Fantastic Game!!

I read the reviews that this game is over in no time and repetative but decided to buy anyway.
I am so glad I did! I would call the game "FEAR" repetative, but with this game each missions landscape/background is completely different from the last and delivers a totally gripping edge-of-the-seat thrill!
The graphics are breathtaking also. I liked the way what ever object you shoot at either explodes or moves, some times this can play an integral part in achieving the mission.
The best game I have ever played.
