The difficulty of this game is rediculous, even when put down to the easiest difficulty, towards the end of the story mode the computer counters nearly every move you try yet when you try and counter a move you have literally half a second and it is tough to do on a regular basis. It takes quite a long time to fill your impact meter whereas the computer is able to do it within a minute.
There are not enough game modes and there are not enough moves, meaning you will end up doing the same move over and over and not gaining impact for it.
The ultimate x matches are far too easy, all you have to do is get straight up on the cable then keep kicking the opponent off till u get the x. This match was one of the games unique selling points yet it really doesnt bring anything exciting to the game.
The multiplayer is quite fun and ganging up on one computer player helps to relieve the stress of the countering but by no means makes up for the rest of the game.
The story mode is boring and is linear instead of having branching of stories like SvR and you are forced to play as one person instead of chooseing who you want to be.
All in all, if you want a wrestling game, it is well worth waiting for SvR 2009 or Legends of Wrestlemania as this game will result in hours of frustration.

      Top 100 DVD Reviewer

I am a fan of the WWE games but thought I would check out its competition, and I was suprised that TNA could be classed as competition. After playing the game and seeing a few matches I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The game is very poor with stupid fiddly controls and a boring story line. There is a small choice of matches which are all dull and boring. The 'superstars' are poor and boring. TNA is a joke to be honest. If you want a solid wrestling game then pick up Smackdown V Raw 2009 and you wont be dissapointed. As for this... You would be wise to stay well clear.

This is gonna be a review of two halves.

When I first got this game I hated it. I still play the classic wrestling games on the N64 like No Mercy, Wrestle mania 2000 and WCW vs. NWO Revenge as they are the kings of the genre no question. When I heard that TNA wrestlers were fans of these games I had BIG hopes for TNA IMPACT. Sadly AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and all the others must be playing different versions than me, and my N64 is American. The game plays nothing like my favourites and after five minutes I was left deflated and disappointed so much so that I was tempted to return it in disgust.

Then strange thing happened. I stopped thinking of the game as the next no mercy and tried to look at it for what it is. This is the very first TNA game ever made, and in spite of this it has some really good touches. The graphics are amazing, the story mode, which received mixed reviews, I found to be very entertaining. It's not easy, which is more than can be said for most games out there today. I got it on day of release and I still can't finish it, which makes me keep going back. Online is pretty cool as well. The more you play the more you unlock. As for the roster not being huge. How many characters do you actually play as. If like me you have maybe one or two favourites then this won't bother you. Being a wrestling fan im now just waiting for the downloadable content and the fact that the last move unlocked is the Canadian destroyer. Then my life will be complete.

If you are a TNA or wrestling fan then you should give it a go. Maybe rent it first but please try it. Go in with an open mind and don't compare it to other games. You never know you might like it.

      Bring on the Sequel.

A good game - just lacks some bare essentials

TNA Impact is a game which has recieved plenty of criticism for its "crappy" storymode, the apparant fact that story mode is too difficult & that the only good factor is its graphics.

The storymode itself isn't amazing, and contains too many jobber characters to be anything more than average if done more than once. The lack of variation makes it stale, and the arcade type consequences of losing a match make it more like Tekken than TNA.

To those of you who find storymode hard, I too had bad points where it took up to 15 attempts to beat someone. Then once I'd done it I realised how simple the stratergy would have been if i'd just used it in the first place instead of trying the same one for EVERY match.

The graphics are the only thing that make this game superior over SVR, because the movesets are very limited but thats a factor which can be ignored if your enough of a TNA fan. Fortunately, for me thats a case I can relate to.

The online mode is lacking in game types, but its fun and challenging to face other people in 1 v 1 matches because its quite easy to counter people who use cheap tactics like chair swinging. The huge flaw is the fact that people can quit the moment they know they dont stand a chance (for games against me that becomes apparant after 30 seconds at times :P) - and recieve no punishment other than maybe a bad rep on XBL.

Overall, I consider getting this game if the pros outweigh the cons - but for people used to SVR...I say stay with that. Two completely different systems of play which can result in the same thing - fun ;)

       quite good

I have been looking forward to tna's first attempt at a game for ver 2 years and when i first heard about it i had high hopes up until i bought the game

I like that the entrances a short as in wwe games the entrances can somtimes take to long and you get bored of watching them quite easy while playing tna gives a short entrance so you can get to the action quicker.

In the story mode it can be somthimes frustrating but it was good storyline none the less somthing that the wwe games have been lacking since 2006

My main problem with this game is that the the create a wrestler there are not alot of customisable options but it is still really good and somthing i have heard they want to expand on next year

This game is worth a purchase for entertainment value
