       The Next 'Best' Thing

This is, by far, the best 'Smackdown vs Raw' game so far. The game is worth the money just for its Road to Wrestlemania mode, however, I am disappointed that the game doesnt have GM mode.

Not as good as Smackdown Vs Raw 2008

I'm really disappointed with this game. GM mode is missing and career mode is very boring. Although the new create a finisher mode is fun, its not enough to carry this game. The new tag features aren't really much of anything. You need to go through career mode to improve your custom superstar and you have to unlock special abilities but there isn't really a way to choose the abilities you unlock, you can have a limited influence. You have to achieve hidden goals so some are easier than others. The road to wrestlemania is okay but its only going to be good once per story, even though you can have slightly different outcomes at a second play, you are limited to one superstar. In the 2008 edition I could think of loads to improve GM mode but with all its faults, when you played your custom wrestlers it felt like you had your own stories going, despite not having cutscenes. Also, for the new custom wrestlers, you have to complete a career mode before you can save them with their upgraded stats, otherwise it just sets them back to default, this means that for every wrestler you want to creat, you have to go through the same 50 odd boring matches again and again! I have a large custom roster that I've recreated in each new game and I feel that without the booster kits you could get in the 2008 edition, I'll be playing until this time next year to recreate them all! If you have 2008 and you like creating your own wrestlers, I would just stick with that, don't waste your money. This game is fine if you are happy with the preset roster and just want to play exhibition mode and its a bit expensive just for that! If you don't have 2008, buy it instead!

Improvements but not as good as 2K7

As the title reads there are alot of improvements since SvR 08 which got very repetitive and boring but it can't beat smackdown vs raw 07... the highlight reel is a cool feature but when you use a grapple move it keeps your opponent down longer than a "FINISHER "move!!

       It's back... at last!

I have no idea what went wrong in the developer's minds, but SVR series lost its way for me. I bought 2007 and was not that impressed, then 2008 which I think I played only twice. Waste of money. So on Holiday, I read this was coming and the review was strong so I bought after I got back. Well, I am so pleased to report that this 2009 version takes the best of the originals we all love and adds the next gen touches which seperates it graphically from previous incarnations. Only a few minor glitches such as the Taker's hair 'wobbling' as he enters the arena, but the graphics are so stunning you forgive all of this. It plays simply, styraght forwards controls again!!!!!! Superb story modes for the main characters, HHH, Taker, Batista etc... and all voiced over with poslished intro's to each week's show whether Smackdown, Raw or PPV events. Love it, and at last THQ got this right 100%. Buy if you love the series of old. Hope this helps!!! Regards, Will
