Guitar Hero: World Tour (Game Only)

First of all i have played guitar hero since it arived in the uk and it has been greatly improved upon since the orginal game on the ps2 .

You dont need to buy the new equipment , thank god i am starting to build a colection of plastic guitars in my living room .

the game works with the older xbox guitars and the rock band guitar , and the game picks up on which guitar / drum kit you are using .

If using an older guitar like myself it changes the slide button into a darker notes liked up by a purple line , you dont notice it at first but you get used to it.

It also notices if you are playing on the rock band drum kit (like i do) and changes the notes to hit from 5 to 4

The songlist is ok , not great there isnt anything that stands out to you . nothing like freebird or one which spent many hours frustrating thousands of players to get the last achievements.

Seeing a digital version of ozzy and hendrix did make me giggle for a while though

Having played rock band solidly since may , i feel that guitar hero world tour just doesnt match up as they basically took rock band and put guitar hero world tour on the box , its very close to be being the same game but rock band has much better graphics and more personalisable items of clothing.

The music maker tool is ok but it takes a while to use and i only basically used it to get an achievement .

Buy this game if you must , but rock band is cheaper for the bundle of play and rock band 2 comes out in a week ( and rock band has weekly downloadable content)

Activision is now doing with GH what it did with tony hawks games and pushing them out every year for xmas and reducing the quality in the process

Decided to buy this after a great Christmas playing Rock Band. As it is just mainly for me decided to get this rather than Rock Band as most people said this was the better option single player. Firstly the good points; great fun with great rock tracks (mainly), edit your hero and their equipment on the way to the top and some good cameos from famous artists. However the bad points for me were some of the tracks were so obscure and strange they seemed totally out of place (to me anyway), the final few concerts in single player mode had some impossible tracks to play (even on easy) and finally I completed single player mode version in only as couple of days, so not much longevity single player. Overall then fantastic game to play with your friends when you chose your own track list, average as a single player game. 4 stars overall.

Firstly. Yes you can use the guitar from GH3 or 2. This game is so fun. Unfortunatley I have never played Rock Band so I cant make any comparisons. However the drums in guitar hero are realy good, adding symbals and not making the pedal one of the colours but instead a line was such a good idea because it makes it so much more realistic. The addition of the Slide Bar to the guitar is good, but was it realy neaded? Singing, now before I got the game I said that singing was one thing I would never do but then the Mic was sat there and I just had to give it a timid go and now I think it is addictive, although I can't sing I still get through the songs. The only thing about it is the song creation is so very difficult, however it is to be expected and there are alot of good songs uploaded by others onto GHtunes so I suppose if you have any genuine music skill (which I dont) then you may be able to make somthing on it. But in conclusion, if you liked the other guitar heros then you will without doubt like this one. Oh yea i heard people saying before this game came out that the symbols dont pick up every hit, this is not true or atleast I have not had the issue, so ignore them and just make sure you plug them in properly. If you wanna ask anything my gamer tag is danny tay.

I think that this game would be perfect for someone who has not played GH before as it has a lot to offer, however if you already know how to play along at a fairly competent level then there is not really anything to challange you with thie version. I have managed to do all but 3 songs on expert from first pick up, where as i still can not complete about 30% of GH3 songs on expert. The fact that you can quite easily get 100% on some tracks goes to show that really you need to have the whole band to enjoy fully as a lot of the songs are not on there just for the guitar. I can not really comment on the band as a whole as I do not have anything apart from the guitar, I have however played the drums round a friends house which was great fun, but could get tiresome after a while if playing solo. If you want more of a challenge then i suggest sticking with GH3

Typical guitar hero but some songs are quite poor. Of course the more people you have playing the better the fun. Band aspect is brilliant.
