Monkey Island. Good and bad points. Still love the game!

I do enjoy the Monkey Island games and when I found out it was being remastered for xbox I was very excited. However when it came and I began playing it is actually just the first two games slightly updated from the 90's but still similar style of play and graphics as the 90's just more about using the xbox/ps3 controller with the options and slightly better detailed graphics. At least the characters actually speak though rather than reading it and has more/better sound effects/music.

You are able to switch between the 90's classic version of the game and the new special edition (This is actually one of the achievements)

I have enjoyed playing it but seriously hope they bring out the other ones with the more up to date style of play similar to the ps2 versions of the games or even better.

 Games that defined a generation

These games are 2 of the best examples of the point and click genre of adventure games that dominated thanks to LucasArts back in the 90's and have seemingly fallen out of favour in recent years.
For those who played the originals these updates are just that, graphically and sonically updated but the puzzles are identical and occasionally very tough, especially if this is the first time you've touched these game in well over a decade. For those who have not played them I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Both are outstanding examples of their genre, whilst Monkey Island 2 is the pinnacle of the series and quite rightly regarded as one of the greatest games ever, regardless of genre.
For those looking for a change, or like me, are just sick of the drab sandy colours and identikit gameplay of a million modern shooters, take a risk on something thoughtful, more considered, full of personality and highly amusing.

 Classic Games.

Monkey Island is a classic games series and this xbox game collects both the first and second games. If you remember the games then this is a walk in the past.

There are some really outstanding things with this game. The graphics, sound and score have been improved and the game play is actually easier to control.

There are also some great bonus features to be enjoyed. There's a makers commentary and a terrific art book. You can also switch the game play to the original graphics and marvel at how basic everything looks.

The games are at times annoyingly slow but thats the way they were made back in the day. The characters are lots of fun and its a joy to play the game slowly remembering stuff which you thought you had forgotten.
