Famed game producer Hironobu Sakaguchi of Mistwalker and developer Artoon present the highly anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive Blue Dragon. Featuring the character design of Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball Z and music by Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon is an epic role-playing game that centers on a young boy named Shu and several of his friends.

These unlikely heroes possess the power to control phantom shadows that mirror the actions of their masters, giving Shu and his comrades miraculous strength and magical powers.

Shu and company must use their shadows as weapons as they battle the evil Nene and an antiquated human race, who command a magical power that is thought to have perished long ago. Shu and friends must wield their skills to save their world from impending doom.

Encountering various people on a planet where numerous ancient ruins remain, the characters and their shadows travel through a world full of mysteries and illusions, where the slightest touch can cause reactions of unparalleled magnitude.

Innovative RPG gameplay features: As their quest progresses, warriors can create original attack methods by utilizing several types of Shadow Change, including Sword, Assassin, and Power Magic. Players can also choose to focus their hero on certain areas of expertise - as they fight, shadows will level up and gain new abilities associated with the job it's currently doing. Once gained, abilities are not lost and remain available to use when needed.

Massive scope and engrossing environments: Shu and his companions battle their way through an immense world filled with vividly illustrated remnants of ancient civilizations long forgotten. Their journey takes them through alluring ancient ruins scattered with machines of war that have long since fallen into disrepair.

Stunning graphics: Taking full advantage of the power of Xbox 360, Blue Dragon will engage gamers in a world and characters that are brought to life with vibrant colors and detail, from Shu's wild hair to his martial arts-style garb, conveying the beautiful simplicity and sense of adventure found in this truly next-generation RPG.

Dazzling character design and effects:Toriyama's unique influence is evident in the design of the game's anime style characters, as their actions are enhanced with next-gen blur effects. Additionally, the game's algorithmic animation system adds heightened realism to character and creature movements.

Skeptical But The Game Turned Me Around.

Top 100  Reviewer Top 100 Games Reviewer

Firstly, dont read the reviews about the demo, I think play.com should not let people submit reviews untill the game has been released, because a demo review just never gives a game justice and you have 8 million reviews before the game comes out (look at halo 3 for instance)

OK! Well my friend rang me up and told me to get this game, as we used to play through the Final Fantasy series alot and he recommended this game. So I told him I'd read it wasnt so good, and I had tried the demo and I couldnt make my mind up, so I went round his house to check it out. He showed me the basics and I decided to get the game for myself, and it was the best decision I could have made.
I'm glad I havent missed out on this game, firstly it is turn based combat, and if you liked the older Final Fantasy games (Like FF7), then you will love this game. Its not as adult themed / serious as Final Fantasy at first, but after a while of getting into the story, things start to get serious and the story keeps you intrigued ALL of the time.

The combat is excellent and the achievements will make you play this game well over the 40 hour estimated finish mark (if you want to get the achievements that is)
I cant deny that the music is ALOT like Final Fantasy, almost identical but its also just as damn addictive, and I find it a good thing.
This game is a breath of fresh air for the 360, as the 360 is getting known for just drawn out FPS shooters now, and this game changes all of that. It has alot of FMV's and the story will keep you involved with the game. The skill based system is excellent and the game has alot of Fnal Fantasy in the mix, and that is definatly not a bad thing.
I suggest if you like FF and games that are similar then please do not miss out on this game!
Do not judge a book by its cover, this is not the game I first thought it would be, and it has turned out so much better. I thought it was going to be some Pokemon clone, but it sooo isnt.
The characters do look similar to DBZ, as the artist who created the DBZ characters created the characters for Blue Dragon. Plus they do tend to have a Japanese theme to them, with some phrases a bit cheesy, but the combat system, the skill system and the story will definatly turn this game into a classic.

A brilliant game, do not go by the demo reviews please, the demo does not give this game the justice, if you love the final fantasy games then get this game. Dont make the same mistake I did and think its some kiddy pokemon game because it definatly isnt.
Trust me, BUY it now. You'll be missing out on a great game if you dont.

Great game from a reliable team

You all know the people who brought you the final fantasy series Toriyama, Uematsu, Sakaguchi.
Well the genius' that brought you hours of fun has crossed over to the Xbox and its a very positive first outing for the number 2 selling nextgen system.
With good gameplay, nice graphics and a story to boot. This is definetly a game worth investing your time and money into.

       Poor poor game...

I played the demo of this 'game'. I was looking for a new RPG game (online on play) and accidently clicked onto this shocker of a game. Then I read the reviews for it...
How can you sleep at night knowing that you have given this shocker of a game a good review?
My only explanation is that the games creaters reviewed it.
The demo lasts an hour which was un-needed as I had had enough of this game after 5 minutes. After working out what the bloody hell was going on I ran into a monster: These monsters should be scary or at the very least intimidating but i found them incredibly childish and almost laughed as they jumped towards me in perfect sync.
Your characters are immencely powerful and with some moves you can kill even bosses in 1 hit.
I found the method of attacking very strange you have to stop a strange red bar in n a tiny slot with a monsters head in.
At one point I decided to heal my team of small 11 year olds but ended up healing the monsters. But no matter I used my super powerful shadow attack and decimated all of em anyway.
Sounds confusing eh? It is trust me.

If you have £40 lying around PLEASE don't waste it on this game donate it to a chartiy, even feed it to your dog just PLEASE don't use it to buy this 'game'. As if you do buy this game the games creaters may get the foolish impresion that they made a half decent game, and we don't want that do we? Or they may do something stupid like make a sequel.
      Sorry for the rant
      Lots of love

great rpg at last for the 360

this is the best rpg out on xbox as far as im concerned. how people can say its a bad game just from a demo is a beyond me. if your a fan of games like final fantasy series you ll love this. the battling is turn based but they re arent random enemy encounters. you can see the monsters before you battle. the game has very cutesy graphics though which could put people off it. over 3 discs though it will keep you busy. i reccomend this game especially if your a fan of the genre.

       Much better than you'd think...

When this game came out I was put off by some pretty mediocre reviews but found a cheap copy on playtrade and bought it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised.

This game is actually really good. I spent a week in the Lake District where the weather was awful and I got hooked, playing late into the evening and getting up early in the morning just to get a few more hours in before others wanted the TV. That hasn't happened since FFVII!

The graphics are stunning and the story is intriguing, if a little lost in places. The characters are varied and, although there is one REALLY annoying character, on the whole very likeable.

The battle controls are easy to pick up with the classic turn based system and the different shadows are a nice touch.

I like the fact that there are no surprise battles as you wander around; you can avoid the enemies if you like (though some have to be defeated to get to the treasure chests), which is a big plus in my opinion.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this game and the depth of the levels was just superb.

It only gets 4 stars because at times the battles got a little bit repetitive but that aside, an entertaining, easy going RPG for almost everyone.
