Tailor your espionage skills and training to your play style and become the world's deadliest rogue agent in Obsidian Entertainment's blockbuster modern day espionage RPG thriller.

When a CIA operative is cut off from his own agency, when he no longer has backup, when his ties to the US government are severed, he has one option: the Alpha Protocol. Agent Mike Thorton's investigation led him to a once-in-a-career target, but when the operation gets called off at the last minute, that's when it begins. Plots are in motion in major cities around the world that will change them forever. Thorton has to work against the odds and the most dangerous operators in the spy game if he's going to stop them... and he will have to do it alone.

Unique Action-based RPG skill system: Become a spy, marksman, or technician among many other classes. The familiarities of today's shooters are mixed with unique roleplaying abilities.

Movie blockbuster experience: High production espionage thriller. James Bond meets Jason Bourne meets Jack Bauer.

Morally Complex Choices: Relationships alter story and side quests based on both conversations and actions. The gameplay system is directly tied into the narrative.

Revolutionary Dialog Stance System: A new dialog system based on emotive responses.

writing this review based on the first 2 missions ive played this morning and im very impressed! good graphics and very good a.i for once! the missions are a good challenge and i love the role play with the other characters in the game which allows you or them to manipulate the situation or how the mission is played out. overall a good start and not as easy as you might think!

         Good but not Flawless

I have only played through this game once as I write this but I must admit I am actually quite impressed by it. There are lots of good points about this game including:

A good involving and realistic storyline.
        Interesting and varied characters.
A Good interaction system with the characters in an impressively worked modern setting.
The stealth option is entertaining, especially if you like to be patient e.g. tenchu style.
You have the option to go all guns blazing if you are impatient.
Good variety of customisation options for character and skills development, weapons and modifications and armour and modifications.

There are a few bad points however:

The aiming and Shooting with the guns is terrible, even when levelled up in a particular type of weapon.
The damage with the weapons is also a bit stupid, e.g. it might take 5 point-blank shotgun blasts to kill a random enemy but if you let a critical shot build you will knock him over (Doing very little damage) but then you can stomp him for an instant kill.
Headshots are the only way to easily deal with your opponents if you have been seen and are in a shootout.

Top tip is to develop your assault rifle skills, will help to see you through any combat, especially since some is unavoidable.

I enjoyed this game despite its flaws with the combat and the option to be stealthy adds a nice bit of difference for some of the missions, allowing you to customise your characters equipment and weapons before a mission depending on the style of play you would like to use.

This game is definitely worth picking up, especially as it is in the play sale as I write this review. I am sure that if there is a sequel on the cards they will improve the areas of the game which are lacking but this is a great start and could turn into a good franchise or series of games.

         Very surprising

        Top 100 Games Reviewer

What first greets you when load up Alpha Protocol is some shoddy loading screens and clinky menus. Indeed, when you venture into the game itself, you see that it looks truly awful. Despite these obvious flaws, AP really is a gem of a role-player, with some great Mass-Effect style dialogue and some good shooting sections. The levels of customisation are very deep and due to the many choices to be made in the story, it offers good replay value. The cover system and shooting are agreeably chunky and if the Bond style 'spying' isn't your style, you can go sneaky. Obsidian obviously have a flair for the dialogue, with truly Mass Effect equalling choices and consequences. If you can ignore the obvious flaws and concentrate on the strengths, you'll find a role player of real excellence.

         Good game

Even tho there is a few flawes with this game its still a pretty good title, Id recomend it to any mass effect/rpg/spy game fans

Shooting is awful. Dialogue system is terrible and such a disappointment. This is just a failure as a game. Let's hope Obsidian do a better job with Fallout New Vegas
