Based on the PC version of the same name, The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II for the Xbox 360 will bring players into the heart of Middle-earth to live the battles seen in the blockbuster New Line Cinema films and classic J.R.R. Tolkien literary fiction. The game boasts a new and intuitive console-specific control scheme that will allow novice players to enjoy the game's signature strategy gameplay while giving expert players the flexibility needed to engage in a deeply complex strategy experience. Directly control hundreds of units in an attempt to defeat enemy armies, conquer new lands, and seal the fate of Middle-earth.
  • The Middle-earth you have never seen brought to life on the Xbox 360! The unification of the book and film rights have unlocked a world of Middle-earth - new races, places, heroes, and battles from the books and films are yours to command.
  • Command the most epic battles of Middle-earth from your living room couch. Directly control and manage hundreds of units and engage in intense, action-packed real-time battles.
  • Challenge friends online and battle it out via Xbox LIVE. The game features exclusive new multiplayer games including King of the Hill, Capture and Hold, and Hero versus Hero.
  • First The Lord of the Rings strategy game for any console system and first game in The Lord of the Rings series for the Xbox 360.
  • New and intuitive console-specific control scheme that makes it possible to experience and enjoy the strategy genre on the Xbox 360.
  • Customize fortresses or choose to build anywhere! Craft your own landmark castle and create signature units including naval ships or Elven and Dwarven heroes.
  • Hugo Weaving reprises his role as Lord Elrond lending his voice and likeness to the game. Weaving offers the game's overarching tone by guiding players in and out of each good and evil mission within the single player campaigns.

this game has many great flaws, here are a couple.
terrible lag, on single player....
conect just doesnt adapt to xbox very well (its a pc game all in all) in that searching the map takes too long and u are always slow to react scrolling to the news of ur army being attacked, resulting in ur army being damaged before u even know whats going on
thers no incentive to actualy play on normal or even hard difficulty, easy still gets u every unlokable and achievement.
the graphics are pretty poor tbh i know its a large mapped game but still....next gen
so those are the things that went just plain bad but ther are also parts that should have been good
the grouping and selecting is good, but 2 fiddly with the cursor so u can very easily send wrong guys to do the wrong thing
but the game does redeem itself with a nice storyline set alongside the LOTR classic story, and the gameplay is fun when ur doing well. the choice of race is also good and i played a lot trying out every one
all in all. not bad...not particularly good tho

 simple the worst

RTS games are not for all tastes, but at £15 this is a gamble worth taking. I hoped it would be okay but had no idea it would be so beautifully rendered in the style of production Artist Alan Lee's paintings. The soundtrack from the movies is great; the vocal cast, including Hugo Weaving, is superb. However, the best thing about it is the playability. Chances are you'll whip through the earlier levels, but by the time you get to the penultimate level (Ereborn) on the Good campaign, it's so good you'll have to keep playing until you defeat the forces of evil. And for those who spend more time snacking than they should, rest assured this game is so good, you'll forget to eat. 10/10.

WHAT A GAME 5 stars well deserved

This game is one of the best rpgs ive ever played on except "Enchanted Arms" that is but this game is very addictive and well worth the money. The game never gets boring really and the campaign is really fun to complete well done EA games for making this gaming master piece. =D

Xbox360 + Lord of the Rings = Phenomenon

To describe Battle for Middle-Earth II in one word would be: PHENOMENON.
This is the ultimate lord of the rings battle simulator, play as Gondor, Rohan, Mordor and many more, with a new race to play as which are the mighty Dwarves. I myself simply think Lord of the Rings is the greatest movie of the past years, and this game is the best of it's genre. I give this game a well deserved 10/10.
