Xbox 360 Premium Console with 20GB HDD

Why do we play console games? Is it to show skill? Is it to kill time? No, it is for fun. Fun in the form of doing things that aren't possible in this world. I'm never going to own a plasma rifle and fight the covenant, I'm never going to hunt down locust and I'm probably never going to drive a vast array of supercars. We play consoles to allow us to experience exciting feats that are impossible in the real world. So the most important factor is the gameplay. Gameplay is the fluidity of movement, the ease, yet presicion of controll over your character and/or environment. It is important that we 'feel' the game to get a truly enjoyable experience out of it. The Xbox 360 delivers this. As compared to the PS3, the controller is more rounded, nicer to the touch. Buttons have been mounted on cylinders in minature tunnels with in lined springs to give a more pleasant feel to pressing the button. The progressive triggers allow us to slowly apply breaks to a car or to deliver just a single bullet rather than a stream. It is details like this, time pent on ergonomics that make the Xbox 360 superior. I will admit that the PS3 may have better graphics, but the Xbox 360s' are plenty good enough. And when it comes to gameplay, the Xbox 360 wins hands down. For a more pleasant gaming experience, buy this console.

The debate that has cursed the minds of all newbies of next-gen console purchasing - Playstation 3 or Xbox 360?
Before making up your mind, however, you need to consider what type of gamer you are, and what you want from your console:
-If pure quality of gaming is your thing, the 360 has got to be the best choice with its array of incredible titles and intense playability, and graphics that, from my experiences, better those of the ps3.
-If you want more than a gaming console, go for the playstation; it is a very low price for a good quality blu-ray disc player and has plenty of media devices that come in handy when entertaining.
HOWEVER...
I have owned both consoles and can safely say that the 360 is the better machine IF it doesn't break down. Mine always worked fine and Microsoft seem to have addressed this problem with their most recent consoles, but be weary of old premium consoles still on shelves.
You have the option of buying the accessories, thus making it the more affordable choice if you want it to be, whereas the ps3 comes in one complete package for one price - maybe I don't want to have wireless internet access, and prefer my ethernet cable?
Although the 360 controller requires batteries or the purchase of an additional charger pack, I think it's the better of the two; the ps3 controller is more convenient but really reduces the playability of games.
The deciding factor for me, other than quality of games and sheer enjoyment gained, is the ease of use - the ps3 took at least 20 mins to set up, after downloads that are required before you can do anything (annoying when all I want to do is play). When I bought the 360 I could play out of the box, and wanted to carry on throughout the night, which wasn't the case when I received my ps3.
The reason for 4 stars is that it is the superior of the next-gen consoles, but could do with some work. The games are far better for the 360 (Halo 3 and Gears of War to name just two), and most big titles due for release are multi-formatted anyway.

So now it's up to you - If I had the choice again I wouldn't buy a Playstation; and if Microsoft can sort out the console crashing problem and change a few things (no batteries in the controller/noise from cooling fan etc.) it would be a formidable choice. But as I say, it's your choice and maybe the ps3 will suit you better, it depends what you want from it I suppose.

Yes yes , the xbox 360 has great graphics , HD tv , and some excellent games coming out for it and already out for it. I have had mine for a year and it was great when i first got it , but i started getting the warning message that my xbox 360 is pretty much destroying itself from the inside, i had it repaired and it does it again , and again and again. They are simply to instable , the games heart up to easily and gam, u buy an intercooler to make them cool and it is so loud you can barely hear the game that your playing. My brother recently bought a ps3, i played on it and now i cant come off it. It is SILENT , it has brillaint graphics, some excellent games in the line up for it coming out. It has not gammed once and this is after months of play, my xbox 360 had a warning message within the first 3 days, it is ridiculous how it breaks this easily. For the amount of money the consumers are expecting for an xbox 360 , we should be getting alot more than what we are.

Buyer Beware!
This product suffers from serious problems other than the 'red ring of death' and a recent report (10 July 2007) has shown that an American man is sueing Microsoft for xbox 360 disc scratching.
This comes a week later after Microsoft finally acknowledges that the 3 red light defect is an issue.
With the new Elite 360 version on the horizon I would think twice before making a purchase. Believe me you will have a difficult time trying to convince Microsoft customer support that the product scratches discs and if you want a replacement disc expect to pay for it yourself.....

The 360 is a decent console that is wonderful when it's working properly. However, random failures a full 2 years after purchase are not acceptable for something you're paying nearly £300 for. I really advise you go for the infinetly more reliable PS3. The selection of games available towards Christmas make the PS3 a better buy aswell.
