Fable 2 is a superb game, and at 8.99 Play.com are giving it away.
The Fable series is the reason I got an Xbox 360 instead of a PS3 (boo hiss!) and I was not disappointed by this game. Set in a period which few games have ever ventured, Fable 2 explores the period of the late 16th Century to the early 1800's. You will find flintlock muskets and pistols at your disposal, as well as the more traditional hand to hand weapons such as saber's and axe's . Of course being the Fable series you will also be able to use spells and the like.
The story line is superb and it oozes classic Lionhead in that there is witty and eloquent dialogue, spoken by some superb British actors (Steven Fry plays one of the lead characters) . Fable 2, like its predecessor, shows us a lighter "diet" version of an RPG, perhaps not as engrossing as Oblivion or Fallout but even better entertainment wise.
You don't have to be an RPG lover to play the game as it can just be turned into a slash and hack, however you'd be missing out on some brilliant and funny features such as buying a house, taking a wife (or many), having children and of course getting stone drunk.
This game gave me hours of fun and I thought it was good value at full price, I even completed every single quest to complete the game 100%, something i'd never done on another game! I eagerly await Lionhead's next installment, if it's anywhere near as good as this, Fable is well on the way to becoming the best RPG series of all time.
