Great, but didn't feel like an RPG

Having only played ME1 an hour or so I decided to buy this as it was recommended to me by a friend. I enjoyed the whole game, the graphics are good, gameplay is good, dont think i came across any bugs. The only thing is the missions are a bit straight forward and there isnt many side missions to do. The whole game is basically recruit 8 people or so and do 1 mission for each, then run into a big battle on a big ship at the end. No real RPG feel for it for me and I have played ALOT of RPG's. You dont feel like you have much say in what you want to do. Overall though I would buy this back as I have a new account, but dont expect it to last you weeks.

  best game ever

it's flawless, i've played through both mass effect 1 and 2 about 5 times now and i've enjoyed every second of it. this one is a major step up from the first game in graphics, game play and layout. i would recommend this game to anyone regardless if you played he first one.

Probably the best Xbox 360 game.

The first Mass Effect was a very good game but Mass Effect 2 is better in every way especially the shooting parts of the game. The game feels like playing a game in 5 years time with brilliant graphics and realistic conversations. The side missions that you do for your crew are particularly good with often very interesting storys. You should definately play the first game before you play this because being familiar with the universe and the different alien races make this a much more interesting game.

  One of the best

I didn't hesitate giving this game five stars as it is amazing. The characters, setting and interactions all work perfectly with the combat system and play a huge part on how the story unfolds. The storyline captivates the player from the word go as you venture the galaxy playing as Commander Shephard. Play Mass Effect first and then play this as it makes the experience perfect...all I can say is enjoy.

Not enough charecters to explain how good this game is.

this has to be the greatist game of all time. amazing interactive storyline, complex characters, great voice acting, intence gameplay. buy mass effect and mass effect 2 and just wait till march 2012 for the 3rd installment. ps the choices you make effect the story throughout and you can upload your character from 1 - 2 - 3 !!!

  Phat one coming through

Ha, what a game. Big fat thrill ride through space. More more more. Probably the best game in the known universe. Storyline is so class that it puts most film scripts to shame. Love it - bring on the 3rd.

  Awesome

The title says it all.
I'm currently on my fourth play through and definitely intend to do a 5th, then give it a go on insanity with a 6th play through.
Plays well, looks good and the story line is as strong as ever, as are the characters.
Easily 40 hours game play at least I would say.
I'll be perfectly honest though and say as much as I love the game the scanning for minerals is awful and it's beyond me how someone signed off on that as a good idea, but even something as mind numbingly boring as that can not take away what a great game this is. A must purchase for any RPG fan.

Sets a New Benchmark for the Role Playing Genre

Having defeated the invading Reapers Commander Shepard learns that an even greater threat has emerged. In the far reaches of space something has started abducting entire human colonies and Shepard has little choice but to work with the questionable Cerberus organisation to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced.

Despite its flaws the first Mass Effect took the action role player to a new level and this sequel improves upon it in nearly every way. In order to succeed the player must convince the best from around the galaxy to join their cause. The stories of these characters and your interactions with them are the driving force behind the majority of the game and this is all helped along by the improved conversation wheel that makes talking to your crew fluid and engaging.

The third person combat is also largely improved and now plays very much like a simplified version of Gears of War, the art of using cover now vitally important. Of course the character traits, such as cloaking and levitation powers are still present. Those that played the original will also be pleased to know that the slow loading times and long elevator rides have been almost completely removed.

The only criticism of this sequel would be the addition of resource gathering. This involves a dull planet scanning mini-game to collect minerals that can be used upgrade or build new armour and weapons and seems completely unnecessary. This is however a minor blip in a game that sets a new standard of what can be achieved in the role playing genre.

I got mass effect the day it came out and loved it, when i finished it i needed the second thankfully when i got it i wasn`t dissopointed, the graphics are great as is the gameplay. still cant jump and you can tell when a fights coming. Also in ME1`s final mission i found it like it desserved to be the last mission, mass effect 2`s doesnt really have the same feel. i have completed this game six times now and have started a game where sheperd is uploded from the first. there was a diffrence but not as much as there should of been.

Dispite the small downsides i love this game and would highly recomend it to anyone.
