1,2,3 Steps Above Undisputed - mixed martial arts is here...

DEMO - At first it took a while to shrug off the control mind-set of Undisputed... but once I had I immediately realised how much better the control system for MMA is in comparrison to the overly complicated and WWE like configuration of Undisputed. MMA is a lot more realistic in every aspect and a hell of a lot more exciting... I've played countless matches and have only managed one clean KO, a perfectly executed flying Knee...

Playing with a friend is where it really stood out - Undisputed two player was fun but was somewhat stilted and didn't quite deliver the final punch you wanted, and with a guaranteed KO every fight, it was all too predictable. Now MMA is seriously BRUTAL, cuts usually don't appear 'til midway through the second round unless you've landed that early killer punch - it's the ground n' pound that's extremely satisfying, you really do beat the hell out of the guy lying on the canvas, and when that guy is your buddy, it's just that more pleasurable! As I've mentioned before the 'standing' KOs are a lot more scarce so when they happen, it's a real treat!

While it may not have all the names you associate with the MMA sport, think of it as a time to enjoy creating your own character and using him without feeling that your missing out from not using all the other existing fighters.

Originally being a fan of Undisputed, when I heard EA were getting in on the MMA scene I just knew they'd deliver and from what I have seen so far, It looks like they might have just done that! Got high hopes for this... Spend some time on the demo, figure it all out and you'll soon turn your back on UFC, this just offers a much more fluid, simpler control system with extremely detailed body damage - if you go the rounds the blood just keeps coming!

 Great game

Lets be honest, Strikeforce as a organisation is always going to be second best to the UFC, but this game offers things that THQ failed to rectify from 2009 in their 2010 game.

Mainly this is due to the cheap AI, in UFC a wrestler will take you down with EVERY attempt, Muay Thai fighters will get you in the clinch with EVERY attempt, and most importantly, executing submissions border on impossible, as are escaping from them.

The Fight Night engine handles MMA very well, with the flick controls on the right stick being very good once you get the hang of it.

And as an MMA fan, the choice of different rings and fight rules make it more of a varied game then UFC Undisputed, such as unified rules or vale tudo.

Is it better than UFC Undisputed? No. Is it worse than UFC Undisputed? No. Theyre different games.

 Mates love it

My mates are round every Friday night without fail and our evening/early morning gaming usually requires some racing, some worms,FIFA and fighting but of late the last one has been absent. Used to be fightnight but my mates just hate not being able to beat me...enter mma the demo. Now in some ways it's similar to fightnight with the attacks, even the kicks but when on the ground it's a roll around until one of us gets mashed up or taps out due to submission. I say one thing, if my mates like it then that's all that matters. In my opinion it's ten times better than ufc and the fighters move more realistic to the point of total realism. This game will be played every Friday night and every other game will have to take a back seat whilst we mash eachother up all the way tip Xmas and into 2011 and then some, probably until the sequel arrives!

Very enjoyable and IMO clear win over UFC game

I thought this would be a load of rubbish if I am honest. It came out to little fanfare and was overshadowed ten fold by UFC. I have all the UFC games but have to say I enjoyed this a lot more. The controls are better and the career is much better than the UFC games. I had a genuine epic 15 minute fight on this with near tko's,submissions etc, reversals and near finishes. Well worth playing and for this price you really can't go wrong can you?
