Soul Calibur IV (Classics)

This game may not be the best but its defintely not as bad as some of the other reviews make it out to be. The graphics are great, the character creation mode is top-notch and the new ability system makes the game a lot more in-depth (armour and item you wear along with the weapon you wield affects your ability in some game modes such as increased/decreased health and changes in attack and defence). The story mode is really short, which is why this game isnt great. there are only 5 stages and you can complete a story mode with a character in around 5 mins (literally 5 mins or less). The main mode (tower of souls) is enjoyable but doesnt make up for the fact that the game is actually lacking any real main mode. online is ok but the lifespan of this game is very short. however this is still one of the best fighting games you can get on xbox 360 because the character animations and level designs are great.

this game has fantastic graphics and the gameplay is fluid and fast! Customisation is great and really makes you adapt to your character's and fighting style. the only problem is that the storyline is poor in this game and hasn't really been focused on like the previous games, that's why i've only given it 4 stars

This is an ok fighter but to be honest i got bored rather quickly, the online play is poor and the single player is just ok. Maybe give it a go for the price it is at now but in my honest opinion i would say rent it and see what you think as i got bored and wished i would have rented it first.

Online is terrible, people do not play fair at all. Ive played people who have hacked the game so they cant be ringed out or even killed. The lag in lobbys often causes your friends to be removed from your session when someone else joins

Achievments are fairly easy to get. But there is no story like in previous games. The tower of lost souls is not challenging, more frustrating due to the fact the ai is pathetic and will constantly regenerate health, so for beginners it's extremely unfair. Also the addition of yoda is ridiculous, you cant kill him by conventional means, you cant grapple him and his force powers kill you within seconds when being used online. Overall, the addition of starwars characters has ruined soul calibur, created characters armour doesnt fit the characters, the game has glitches(stuck in graphics or bouncing out the ring) and everyones objective online is to ring you out. And if they lose they scream down the microphone or send you messages. Avoid online and single player. Co-op is unfortunately the best part of the game, shame really.
