The Cold War is in full swing and through means devious and dubious you have seized power of the Caribbean island of Tropico, where you now rule as the all powerful "El Presidente". No matter whether you turn Tropico into a vacation paradise or a modern industrial nation, you will always have to defend your actions before your people! Wander through Tropico and intimidate political opponents, hold populist speeches or just enjoy your country's own Caribbean flair. History takes its course with events such as the Cuba crisis, papal visits and other actual decisive historical events. The only question is whether or not you can play a role in that history!
  • Comprehensive campaign with 15 different missions
  • A variety of business sectors: Tourism, petroleum, mining, agriculture, etc.
  • A timeline editor allows you to create your own fictive historical events or enter real ones
  • Political speeches, edicts and "other" means of influence
  • A wide range of editing and modification functions
  • Mission generator for random map creation
  • A variety of online-functions such as high scores or visiting islands belonging to other players

Are you looking for something a little different? Had your fill of shooters and racing games this year? If so, then why not invest your money in a sim game with a latino twist and a large dose of humour!

Tropico 3 is perhaps better known by PC Gamers, however, its now got its first console release, and its pretty darn swell. Sure its a take on Sim City - a take which see's you build a tropical island as your own dictator or one of many other preset figures from history.

The graphics are good for the type of game, and the gameplay itself is engrossing and enjoyable and spans over 15 campaign missions, and several other challenge and sandbox modes. Considering the price its made available, and the amount of stuff to do, its a bargain.

I do have the odd gripe with the camera and the on-screen menus, and road building can be a pain, but these are outweighed by the games other positive traits.

Try it - you might be pleasantly surprised.

Great game, but some serious issues!

First and foremost, this is a great and addictive game, one of a kind on the Xbox 360 platform - there were no half decent management/simulation type games before this! Graphics are excellent, gameplay is good although at first somewhat overwhelming with a poor tutorial, music can get repetitive. Overall, you should get hours upon hours out of this game!

However, there are some rather appalling issues with saving games. You can save at any point but if you save a game over a previous save or even try to save a large built up island, then the odds are that you will never be able to access it again - this has ruined the whole experience for me. It is a wide spread problem but the developers/publishers have so far refused to acknowledge it!

 Yes Yes Yes!

I was in love with this game. It is so addictive!

I will admit there are a few slight flaws the music gets a bit repetitive and the camera controls are not exactly perfect but whilst you are playing tropico 3 you get totally lost!

The only way i could stop playing this was to sell it! .... now i miss it!

 El Presidente

Tropico3; the banana republic game, in which it is your job to manage resources and control of power as El Presidente.

From farms to military bases, the game allows you to build, set wages and wok conditions, visit your people, make speeches; and hopefully keep the bank in the black.
Have complete control as El Presidente, or reach out for aid from the cold war superpowers.

As a simulation game this has some great features.
Great background music,
Plenty of settings to fiddle with,
The option to be kind or sadistic,
Different game modes for plenty of variety,
Very pleasing graphics.

Probably the finest such game on the 360.
