Blood Bowl is the videogame adaptation of Games Workshop's famous board game of the same name.

A brutal team sport unfolding in a parallel fantasy world based on Warhammer and American football, Blood Bowl invites gamers to form a team of players from such races as Orcs, Wood Elves, Humans, Dwarfs and many other fantasy creatures, and launch themselves into battle in the bloodiest of arenas. This strategy sports game combines a fine balance of tactics and bonecrunching action! The game offers two game modes.

The first, which is fully real-time, offers a spectacular gameplay. Intense battles between blocking linemen and daring displays of agility of players leaping and dodging through opponents tackle zones, while powerful spells and dirty trick special plays are unleashed across the pitch; all this creates a highly charged atmosphere.

The second game mode, an actual turn-based game, is a treat for players of the original board game because it is an exact replica of Games Workshop's tabletop masterpiece. The original rules have been faithfully reproduced, and it contains all of the devices, strategies, play and rhythm of the original game.

The single-player experience allows the player to manage a team throughout an entire season of Blood Bowl, through the Old World of Warhammer. The team will evolve over the course of victories, experience gained and awards won. With its immense depth, the game can almost be considered as a management game, from managing the popularity and sponsorship of players to the purchase and sale of players, as well as their aging, retirement and even death.

In multiplayer, the player will be able to throw down a challenge to other Blood Bowl players and participate in large tournaments on the Internet in order to climb the official ranks.

  • Two radically different game modes: turn-based for a faithful adaptation of the board game, or real-time for intense and spectacular matches
  • 8 different races, each offering its own style of play: Humans, Orcs, Skaven, Dwarfs, Wood Elves, Goblins, Lizardmen and Chaos
  • Magnificent graphical rendering, literally giving life to the Blood Bowl miniatures!
  • Take part in a full Blood Bowl campaign to win the 15 championship trophies and cups while developing your own team
  • Export your own team from a championship and play it in a One-Off Match or in multiplayer
  • Create your own online league and challenge other player and participate to online tournaments on the Internet to rise your team on the top of the official online rankings!
  • Get started easily and progressively using the in-game tutorial and 3 levels of difficulty

 Good Memories!

Well..there are two schools of thought on this. The first is if you have ever played the Blood Bowl board game, in which case you will more than likely love this game (bar some flaws). The second is if you haven't played the board game, which means you will probably hate it. I am of the former and love the game. It has some flaws, such as the lack of an online league, and the inability to 'paint' your team to the colours you might like. On the whole I love playing it and it has introduced my son to the delights of Warhammer games.

 Why the online league feature?

Why does play still have online leagues as a feature of this game when they are not present? The multiplayer consists of a one off no persistence match on live. Meanuing you level your teams only on single player campaign.

Play.com please update the features on your site to accurately depict what is on offer with this title online leagues can only be obtained by playing the pc version.

They ruined it DO NOT BUY THIS GAME without reading this

Only buy it if you want a single player game, even then it's full of glitches

Good if you are a fan of Warhammer

On many review sites you will find people who say this game is bad, or terrible. Some complain about the rules being too complicated, or lack of online leagues.
However, if you are familiar at all with the rules of the fantastic board game of Blood Bowl then I definitely recommend this game to you.
Admittedly, this is not a perfect game. The graphics in many places are pretty appauling, and the game in places does not feel as flowing as it should be. This did not however take away the enjoyment I had with the game. To truly appreciate all the subtleties in the game you really have to have played Warhammer and Blood Bowl.

To those who complain about over complicated rules, I say don't critisize a game you know nothing about
