Official Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter - Black

I originally owned the old white wireless adaptor which wouldn't even work very well if my xbox was about 20m away in another room from our router and because of this I had an ethernet cable installed to the second floor of the house where my Xbox was. I then had to move my xbox to the 3rd floor of our house, couldn't be further away from the BT Home Hub if I tried and so I bought this new wireless N adaptor. What a fantastic buy! I've been playing MW2 constantly with no connection or lag issues, I've got full green bars when I run a test or if Im sat in a game lobby. Buy this adaptor it works as well as if you had a cable plugged in. Don't even look at the old white one!

Excellent item and gives great coverage. ideal for a house with children as i didnt want the ethernet cable laying around to be tripped over. Now for the techy stuff...

This wireless adaptor will work with any wireless router as it is compatible with A B G and N routers. As to whether you are able to take advantage of Wireless N Technology is dependant on your router. the Thompson Speedtouch 585 is a G router, so this wireless adaptor will work just fine, just won't benefit from the 'N' capability. This is the case for most routers supplied by your service provider. BT's homehub 2.0 or later has 'N' technolody and so it has the benefits or greater distance and connection speeds. still, 300Mbps is way faster than you need, the only time you would use this would be streaming uncompressed HD video through your network to your xbox. the main advantage is the greater coverage, if you are experiencing signal drop outs due to your router being far away, if your router is 'N' compatable then this adaptor should fix your problems.

as for speeds to watch SKY PLAYER on your xbox, your video stream is clamped by your broadband speed. a 'G' connection offers up to 54Mbps where as your download speeds will normally never be above 20Mbps and on average it is around 5Mbps (unless you are lucky enough to have the top virgin package and even then their max is 50Mbps). In a nutshell, SKY PLAYER will work on either 'G' or 'N' connections, it is your broadband that needs to be fast enough. i run 1 Meg from BT and it's not good enough.

This official Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter is amazing i can play on xbox live all around my home with no loss of connection and good speed too as this can recieve transfer data at up to 300mbps compared to just 56mbps from the older white official Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter but be warned you need a wireless "N" Router!

Yes its quite usefull to have no wires all over the place but if you get connection probs with this item and believe me the web is full of the same problem (for some reason it doesnt work all the time with wpa2 security) you are all by yourself, i mailed 100 times to ms and router seller but no one helps you out the only thing they send you is how you install it. So for ppl who ,may see the online connection on the list but cant get xbox live to work go to your router and set security off or change it to wep that will do.

Works well,got mine in the loft and got full 4 bar connection status and my router's 2 floors down,pricey though hence the 4 out of 5.
