  Fantastic game

What a great game!! It's fantastic fun. The game-play is good, the story is good and the graphics are a great upgrade from the last game.
Negative feedback is obviously from someone who has found the game hard, but hey is that not the idea? I would hate to pay for a game that I could complete in a couple of hours.
Buy it! Play it! Enjoy it!

Picking up a few months after the original title former Arkham Asylum warden Hugo Strange now reigns over a territory within Gotham known as Arkham City. Unfortunately criminals and super villains have been allowed to run free and so it is up to Batman to step in and take control. Arkham Asylum took many people by surprise and fans of the first game will be immediately at home here. Rocksteady have retained the core gameplay that was so successful. Combat remains fast and fluid and with a wealth of new counters, some of which allow you to take on multiple enemies at once, as well greater variety of enemy types there is now far more diversity between different bouts.

The much hyped 'open world' acts more like a hub between different locations than a true open world like Liberty City but is for the most part a welcome addition. Side missions pop-up and can be accessed at any time and while the main campaign can be completed in well under eight hours these will keep you going for a far while longer. One minor criticism of the more open world is that the game does not always make it clear exactly how you are supposed to access certain areas which can lead to some frustrating back tracking at times.

Outside the main game the challenge maps also return offering the chance to earn medals and a place on the Xbox Live leaderboards and this all makes Arkham City a thoroughly enjoyable return to the world of Batman even if it is not the revolution that the original was.

  best game ever!

After playing Batman arkham asylum, i didnt know where the game could go and how it could be improved. But as soon as started playing Batman arkham city, it was clear that this game was much more advanced in many ways, including combinations, weapons, graphics and the overall feel to the gameplay including side missions. Even after finishing the game, it is not over, there is a plus game to do which is harder and also playing the game as catwoman which was a good twist to the game
I would definately reccomend this game to any player who enjoys skillful and at times very difficult gameplay. Hopefully a 3rd game ...

  Very very good

well.... brilliant in every way. I have been playing it for days solving all the riddles, duffing up bad guys and just admiring the fluidity of the game play. EVERYTHING clicks just right. Easily one of the best games I have ever played.

Stunning detail, amazing graphics and very true to the comics and characters.

I really hope they churn out many many more Batman games like this. Can't praise it enough.

  Skill is required!!

Firstly let me start by saying that this is currently the highest rated game of 2011, on both the PS3 and XBOX 360 (as per metacritic.com), beating Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3 etc.....
The reason it is so highly rated is because it is outstanding in every way. The reviewers who say its just button mashing or bashing, when you get to a fight scene, probably don't understand that Batman has over a dozen moves plus gadgets he can use, and accumilates more points by maintaing the amount of moves he can string together in a "combo". This takes skill, and when your able to clear a room full of 40 henchmen without missing a beat, you realize there are few greater gaming pleasures. I suggest watching someone who is good on youtube, before justifying a lack of skill as button mashing. Great job Rocksteady, I can't wait for Arkham 3!

  Theres so much to do!!

  Not very impressed

Well i was really looking forward to this game.Loved the first game soooo much. Could not wait until this one arrived. I orderd it the day it came out and started playing.I soon lost all my positive points towards the game. My biggest problem with the game is the storyline is too SHORT. An if your not careful you can miss alot of achievements with the side missions. Cat women in the game made it refreshing and fun but again way to SHORT and the downloadable content made things difficult too.The challenges are ok but repetitive. Things for me were not as enjoyable as the first game and well disappointed.Wish i saved my money and waited. At least i have the shiney tin version, at least that will last longer. he he! Im hoping things will improve next time IF another game is made???

Pros:- Where to begin?
You are Batman, and being batman is fun!
amazing graphics, the game is beautiful
gadgets galor
creative fighting (once u get used to it and remember the moves)
dozens of characters
shed loads of dialog
the city feels alive with variety
game is always changing
catwoman levels break game up nicely
more content and side missions and collectables and trophies and riddles and stuff to keep you busy for ages
nice menue, with bios and info to read
all charaters are well developed and interesting

Cons:- as like th first game i found that on some occasions it can be difficault to know where your supposed to go, or how to get passed a door or progress through a level, or how to deal with an enemy, and this can be frustrating.

If you dont like button mashing fighting this isnt a game for you.

I am a fan of Batman, and i enjoyed the first game, and this game was made with love, and passion, it is perfect!
Batman is the way he is ment to be, a detective and scietist, who can fight, and his whole world of villans is here, the game fits so much in if feels like its gonna explode, the voice talent is brillient with Conroy and Hamil doing the voices just makes it even more perfect, this game is by far the best Batman game ever and is definatly a contender for game of the year, and is a must buy, and sooo much fun, i cant urge you enough to buy it, but then again i am biased i suppose but that aside this game is very well made and full of content it really has been made with lvoe and care and with respect to the material and history.

rly gd but minor small problems

| | See all shatteredbones's reviews (15)

all round the game is rly gd ........ but u cant take down enemies at distance for some reason the gadgets r a bit lame and most of the time u have to be in detective mode just incase u miss something which is rly annoying but part from that game flows well graphics r awesome but i can see ppl getin bored with it very quick as i have
