As the need for speed deteriorates, this is a great example why the old need for speeds really were the best racing games ever. Games like Underground and Most wanted really were epic. This is not. For a start you cant even customise your cars...nope I'm not lying you can only change the colour. Second of all half the time your just crashing into everything on the road and half of the walls because unlike most games, with need for speed they feel the need to add a crappy skid system to turning which makes it very hard and very unnecessary. The story mode is boring which you just pick a marker and you'll either race from or chase from. Another thing why this game fails is they have put an online pass seperate to the game disc..WHY?! Now for people receiving second hand versions of this game get no online unless they fork out 800 MSP. Overall the graphics arn't too bad but this doesn't feel like need for speed I used to love growing up.
This game is absolutely amazing! Criterion Games have obviously gone up a step with this one, bringing the cars to life with real life cars and their actual sounds!
This is a Need For Speed game that all racing game fans should buy. It's packed full of entertainment, has great accessories and is at a whole new level!
I must say, I played this game at first and judged it too quickly. However, once I actually played it properly, I really enjoyed it. The gameplay does vary, the different types are great, as well as varying between cops and racer. Also the online gameplay is pretty fun as well. Could do with a bit of customization on the cars, and the story could be a bit longer, other than that I can't fault it
Its a really fun game especially online.
However there is no customisation (which is half the fun of need for speed in my opinion) and no free roam.
In this sense then, its extremely limited and theres no personalisation.
but its ok.
The first few hours of play are entertaining and the new ideas in the game spice things up at times but you soon find yourself repeating the same tracks but in reverse with different cars. Also there are a lack or Race, Duel and Hot Pursuit missions and too many Rapid Response, Preview and Time Attack races. You will win a viarity of new cars after almost every race but the inability to customise your vehicle leaves you focusing on the top speed rather the car itself and winning more are just more to ignore. Races typically start and end the same: Start at the back and struggle for the whole race right up to the last mile where you'll just snatch 1st. The dull parts of any Burnout game mixed with the heavy handling of Need for Speed.
Well need for speed is back and its gone back to where it began. Ok the positives. Fun gameplay, fantastic multiplayer, stunning graphics. This really is an enjoyable racer. Nothing like forza but its not trying to be. This is arcade fun! Couple of small negetives. It can get slightly repetitive in single player and this has ea's stupid online pass facilty.
So overall a racer defently worth a purchase.
