  Good prequel

Im reviewing the normal version by the way. I brought this game for gamerscore and ended up enjoying every level. The fighting system is similar to number one but there are many new things such as races and armor upgrades and tinting. You also get to manage your own little city. Easy 800G would of got 5 stars but guards block way too much and gets repetitive. Nice views ans very stealthy just as assassins creed should be. 4/5

  Awesome game

Much better than number 1 in terms of story line and the fast travel option makes it more addictive because you don't get bored riding aroun on a horse everywhere. Plus you have the side games building up your villa and you can earn money and buy things.... top marks

  Best of the Series

Having Played all three assassins creed Games, including the more recent brotherhood. I will say that this is the best title in the series by far. The pacing and balance, the character arcs, the execution and production values make this an utterly compelling game from start to eventual finish, and the stylistic differences in the cities and different elements of the game give a real feeling of an epic journey with decades spanned and miles covered.

The improvements over the original are vast, the game casting off the scavenger hunt style of the first and evolving into a much more organic, sandbox variant. I would recommend this be the starting point for anyone completely new to the series, with brotherhood as the second choice and the original only for hardcore fans.

Brotherhood stands in the shadow of the foundations set and perfected here only as a curious addendum. The multi-player may make it look like a more attractive offer to the casual gamer, but to be honest, for pure hours of entertainment per pound, this is the original Mona Lisa, why pay more for a reprint?

i love this game i think its better than number one but it has 2 faults number one: no real connection to number 1
number 2: it still has no multiplayer

i would get this game if you are new to assasins creed but if you have number one i would sell that first because you wont play it anymore and ac2 sevrs all conection to ac1

i got this game for 8 pounds and it is so fun.
The story is good and keeps you wanting to know what happens next and there is a pretty cool ending to it.
it is very fun to assassinate bad guys and climb buildings.
you get to play in venice, florence, tuscany forli and monterrigoni mansion .they all look great and they are packed with detail.
The only dissapointing thing is there is no multiplayer in the game .
I dont think it is as good as brotherhood but its still great

  An Amazing Game!

I think the other reviews here describe how wonderful this game is, well, not just that, how wonderful the Assassin's Creed series is. The AC series has become one of my favourites. I don't really think I could say much negative things about this game, although if I had to, I would have to say that when running and jumping off of buildings, it is easy to miss and fall. That can be even more frustrating if you are being timed because you have to be fast. But apart from that, I don't think I can fault this game. It's just outstanding. The plot is very unique and captivating, the graphics are top notch and the fight sequences are very fun. It never get's old for me to use a smoke bomb and then assassinate the guards.

  Brilliant game!

This is a brilliant game, with beautiful visuals, enjoyable mechanics and an in-depth storyline all set in stunningly immersive enviroments. Its long, which I loved, and it has alot of side things to do, but my only quibble is that the extra sequences weren't that good (they were average, but were samey).

All in all, a fantastic game, and well worth the low price.

Superb and engrossing - this GOTY edition is even better

I had been warned off AC1 but love this game. Spent hours and hours sneaking around medieval Italy and the developers obviously put so much effort into creating a marvellous replica of the era. Venice in particular is lovely, having visited, so much is familiar.

The fluidity when free running over rooftops is superb, the missions are really engrossing.

This edition has some DLC built in that fills in some story gaps. I wish I had activated it from the start, so if you get it I recommend you do so. It then gives you a seamless experience.

Overall the game is sublime in places, and just a solid five star elsewhere.

As an aside I did find the Templar lairs, unlike another reviewer. Maybe it was patched or something.

  Improves upon everything from AC1

Assassin's Creed 2 is a big step up from Assassin's Creed 1. Almost everything is upgraded. The character models are improved, you have a few new weapons added to your arsenal, shops, an income system, etc. By far the biggest improvement, however, is the mission structure. The repetitive model of the first game is done away with, with your missions now consisting of more varied tasks than merely pickpocketing, eavesdropping and interrogating.

The GotY edition is definitely the version to get since with it you get the complete story, whereas without the added content there is just a gap in the storyline that is left unexplained. The additional content may not add much length overall but the two chapters are fun to play nonetheless.

One thing to note, however. Despite it being clearly advertised, the Templar Lairs are NOT included. I don't know whether it was just a programming error or they just weren't added in but they are not accessible at any point in the game. Ubisoft support appears to be playing dumb on this issue and do not seem to be giving an answer so I would not hold my breath for a fix, especially given that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has been released.

Overall, if you liked AC1 then you'll LOVE AC2.
