  great action game

I really liked this game, it is not really a Western game but the gameplay still feels like a Call of Juarez game eventhough the scenario is obviously different. If you like games like Kane and Lynch and Stranglehold I think you will like The Cartel, it has the same action-film feel to it. It feels like you are playing an action movie.

As in the previous Juarez games you can play different characters, each giving a slightly different gaming experience. In the Cartel you can play three characters, each with his/her own mini-story. So there's at least three worthy playthroughs in this game, and if - like me - you really like action games that are set in the real world and dealing with contemporary problems, games like the Cartel is worth many playthroughs.

The story is really good; it has the same depth as a good action film. In fact you actually get four stories in this game; one main story and three sub-stories, one for each character.
The scenarios are varied and beautiful, from desert landscapes to forest areas to urban environments. Like the previous Juarez games you can expect a good deal of variation in how you play the game, its not just going around shooting things.

If you want a Western game this is obviously not your best choice, but if you want a good action game you should consider this game and don't take all the negative reviews too seriously. They were made by people who expected a Cowboy game.

  Really enjoying it so far

Got this game for a fiver and well worth the money haha, i'm loving the game so far and getting a good few g for it. Graphics not great and it does look like a mega drive game but story is really good and game play is class. I would but this for the price but i do feel sorry for people who pay'd 40 quid for it. Get the game you will enjoy it

Don't know what all the bad reviews are about?

Granted it's not the same as the other two COJ games I have played ,but come on guys its not bad, story is good with plenty of twists and turns and yes it's not the best graphics I have ever seen but never the less still a very enjoyable game with a satisfying gamescore to boot. It's not the Wild west but it NEVER! claimed to be!
Well worth a punt at this price.

Save your money. This plays and feels like it should still be a test game. How Ubisoft let this be released in its current state is beyond belief. Glitchy graphics and AI. Terrible sound. Poor story. In todays market games such as CoD, Battlefield, Gears, etc have all set a bar which others try to reach. Ubisoft should've at least tried. Only buy when this is very very cheep for some quick achievements IF you really have to. Otherwise go for something else.

  Worst... Game... Ever...

All the reviews on this game have been negative so far, and this one is no different.
I've Played quite a few games on xbox 360 and i think this one must take the title as the worst i've played.
I liked the Juarez games because they were western, not many of them around. Bound in blood is so much better, and that was 2 or 3 years ago, how have they gone backwards?

  Like achievements? BUY THIS!

If you like to get easy gamerscore then buy this. If not then stay away! it's really buggy and is nothing like the other games they have made.

Oh dear. As a huge fan of the first two 'Call of Juarez' games I thought I'd play safe after the terrible reviews this new Ubisoft title has been receiving online, and give this new modern day incarnation a rent. I am so glad I did not waste money on this game.

The old COJ games had solid shooting mechanics, lovely graphics and the 19th century western setting was very well done. Whoever decided on moving the setting to the modern day removed the single most fun and unique aspect of the first two titles in the series.

What we are left with is a barely adequate modern day shooter, peppered with horrible driving sections (it feels like you're driving a breeze block), shoddy barely next gen graphics, lousy aiming, hopeless AI and weapons which feel underpowered. Add in the gratuitous nudity and swearing which are just there for 'maturity' value and add nothing to the game and you have one total mess of a title.

Lacking love, care and polish, I'm amazed Ubisoft have the cheek to release this mess on the general public and sully the memory of the previous two COJ releases.

A massive let down. The previous call of Juarez was better. The graphics look massively dated, worse the duke nukem. Really disappointed. Got the game today (22.7.11) and i probably won't play it again after today. Such a shame
