This game is a wonderful mix of first person action with zombies.
if you are fans of: fallout 3, borderlands, left 4 dead and far cry then this game is for you. its also very good for playing with a friends co - op, worth the 40 pound that i payed for it.
buy it and dont miss out on this wonderful game
Im a huge fan of the zombie genre whether it is tv shows, movies or video games and ive gotta say that this game is awesome everything you want from a game. Loads and loads of hours of gameplay from killing zombies to doing quests to ensure the survivors live. The graphics are really well done and the story is outstanding. If there was only 1 game that you would buy this year this surely has to be the one. Enjoy
I love zombies, they are my kinda person. So I was excited to get my hands on this. Co-op, sun ,sea and slaying, what could go wrong? Well quite a lot really. Poor visuals that look very dated, ropey collision detection, weak characters and poor repetitive quests all add up to one massively missed opportunity. Deep Silver's Chrome engine isn't at all capable of chucking about anymore than 10 zombies at any one time, and the 'types' of the infected have shamelessly shambled from the classic L4D series straight into this wreck of a game. I played it, and I really tried to love it, but after wondering aimlessly around a sewer I just had to give up.
If you are able to see past the massive flaws then maybe you'd have a gem on your hands, but I really wish I'd waited for this to hit the bargain bin before buying it.
2 stars? Well, the first star is for 'its an Xbox game that runs!', and the second star is for the driving sections. Because as ugly as the undead are, they make freakin' awesome hood ornaments.
This game is huge! I loved every minute of the 40+ hours it took me to finish the multitude of main and side quests.
Taking elements from Fallout, FarCry2, Codemned and, dare I say it, some of the better ideas from Alone in the Dark, all mixed up with a giant dose of George Romero, Techland deliver the definitive tool to quench your zombie slaying thirst. Lots of variety, an enormous landscape and the ability to modify and upgrade some of the most brutal instruments of undead mangling available, all contribute to a game that's gonna have you coming back for more, not for the great story, but just because it's so much fun!!
Techland have tried so very very hard to make this game brilliant, and, for the most part, they succeeded. The graphics are...okay, could have done without the annoying blur effect ( It doesn't make the game look any more stylish guys! ) but other than that they are of the standard you'd come to expect from Xbox 360 and PS3 games, the gameplay for the most part is very intuitive, swinging melee objects around feels very natural and responsive albeit rather buggy at times. Where this game really shines is its atmosphere and sound design, the sounds of the zombie's are outstanding, as are the character models, I forgot to mention the simply amazing multi-layer damage system which is the best that I've ever seen in any game. The general atmosphere of the game is just fantastic, the world feels overrun and the constant sounds of destruction and death are heard throughout and to great effect. However there are some slight problems, for one this game is MADE for 4 player co-op, no doubt about it, which is fine if like me you have 3 friends to play with, however on your own this game is insanely difficult and you will die ALOT, luckily there is almost no penalty for dying in this game so its not too bad. Another problem would be the RPG aspect of the game, its decent, but never fully realized and almost feels tacked on which is a shame. And finally the game is just riddled with glitches and bugs, but I'm sure with patches, Techland will fix this in time. Overall this game is worth a purchase, you have to praise Techland for its ideas, even if they're not quite realized fully.
