DR is one of most fun franchises around...

I've played and own every DR game, with over 200 hours going into each, and I can say this game is their best yet. Though I agree to some extent with the fact that if you own DR2 then don't buy this game, but there is an abundance of extra stuff and fun to be had in Off the Record.

Not only is their a respectable collection of extra items and story for Frank, but OTR has the most entertaining and catered for Co-op zombie killing experience. From the challenges, to the story, to the sheer zombie killing fun, you'll be playing this game for weeks!

giving this game 2 stars is being generous , this game is literally copy/paste of DR2....story mode is exactly the same, except you swap main characters...

new modes sure, but not worth the price, if you got DR2 already then this isnt worth your time, if your new to the series i guess you can give it a go, but it will get very repetitive and fast.

  Ace!

The first one was a big let down, more so due to the dodgy save feature, number 2 was a lot better, but the timer on the missions was annoying and there wasn't a free roam mode. With this updated version, it's totally ace. Quite a lot of new features, and most of all, there's now a free roam mode which is ace. Even if you've played the standard version, it's worth swapping it for this version.

  4 stars too much?

if you have played the dead rising 2 you might wonder why i have given something which is the same as its original 4 stars, but i9snt that the point? its the same game with frank west added so that in itself makes it a great game. the addition of sandbox mode makes this game have more appeal. if you have played the original i would say there is little to bother with here as its essentially the same game with a different character so i would not suggest it but if you skipped over dead rising 2 you might want to pick this up, as its just as much fun if not slightly better but if you have dead rising 2 in your back catalogue i would just buy the 2 DLC games offered as there is not much new you can get from this.

A great buy considering the price.

The price that is being offered for this game is highly worth it. The game is more of a huge DLC pack than any thing else. I would have gladly paid this much in order to just download all the content on this game for DR2.

Any way, if you're a fan of Dead Rising 2, every thing will be familiar here. Controls, map, characters, everything, but with some new additions. A new area has been added to the game which will add further fun and exploration to the game. New combo weapons also enter the game, which tend to take more of a comedic take on killing zombies.
Although not surprising, the plot/story itself is a little lacking in detail. Its pretty much the exact same as Dead Rising 2. Hell, alot of the cutscenes are the exact same, but with Frank's character model and voice used instead of Chucks. All the old Psychopaths also have the same cutscenes, as well as the survivors. I'm not exactly complaining, but it would have been nice to see something new to look at.
Also, I am extremely happy they finally added checkpoints in to the game. There is now no going back to the last place you saved the game when you die. Thank god.

Sandbox mode is really what makes this game though. The ability to just jump in to the game without a needing to worry about the story is just awesome. Being able to do WHAT EVER YOU WANT is really what I've been looking for since Dead Rising 1's Infinite mode with that pesky hunger bar. You can also save you game in Sandbox mode to continue your carnage at a later time. A great addition.
It also adds fun challenges for you to do in single player, as well as unique co-op challenges to tackle with a friend.

Overall, this game is well worth the 18 pounds I spent on it, and I've only played it for a total of just over 2 and a half hours. A recommended buy for any new comer to the Dead Rising series, or any one who didn't get the 'kick' they were wanting out of Dead Rising 2.
