  An insult to my xbox

i bought this seeing the Tenkaichi in the same and expecting it to be like the previous tenkaichi games. I could not of been more wrong. While the looks as good, it's plays slowly and rather boring. The fact that it has long range and short range modes during battle was bad enough. There is little freedom to fight. You can't send a fighting flying and chase using energy attacks. Instead when the fighter and you get far enough apart there is a mini cutscene that you must watch forcing you to use only ranged attacks. This greatly limits you. DO NOT buy this game expecting a fast paced DBZ fighter, because this isn't it.

Its ok But can be better

I found it to be quite a pain.
The controls are ok but the fighting style is not good you r very limited on the way of fight.
There r not a lot of fights you can be but this is a mode called hero that is lots of fun.

best of all dragonball z games up to date!! yes they all have there own stuff they bring to it.. but this game has more to do with the actual manga!! the gameplay and buttons are so easy to get use to.. can easily become a pro at this game.. overall an great beat them up.. with good story to enjoy if you already are a fan of the franchise.

  Fun but nothing more

The last few Dragonball games were great (with the exception of the last 2), budokai and tenkaichi were brilliant, this game however is a major letdown.

The combat is too slow and not 'dragonball Z' enough for me, the visuals are fantastic but this seems to have been the main focus, I dislike the way specials are done, pushing a stick in a direction and praying your opponent doesn't do the same direction is not fun, the roster of characters is miniscule,.

I'm not expecting every character from the series or anything, but at least Goku super saiyan level 4 would be nice, Hero mode is probably the most fun part of the entire game, but even then its pretty limited.

I would recommend people try this game to make an opinion, but personally I'm extreemly let down by this title.

Entertaining and a fresh take on the series

I understand other reviewer's concerns - the style of gameplay is certainly different, however I feel it is, on the whole, truer to the DragonBall series in almost every way - combat is lightning fast and can change direction in an instant, the graphics are stunningly faithful to the series and the Hero Mode, despite lacking certain aspects (such as females or original hairstyles/costumes) is enjoyable.

well the game wasnt as good as dragonball budokai tankaichi 3 . . . but the new creat mode in hero is awsome :) so i'd reccomend this to a dragonball fan who likes a challenge or to and has alot of patients :)

  Fresh and Brilliant

I don't understand the bad reviews?

Yes the game lacks some vital characters, but I don't think at all it takes away from the new gameplay, incredible graphics and groundbreaking hero mode. Most of us were getting sick and tired of the same old dragon ball games, but this new style is easy to get the hang of and so much more impressive. Gameplay is truer to the original dragon ball with super attacks causing mass destruction and being set off scarcely, with the impact break engine looking phenomenal. The story mode with free roam and anime cut scenes is the best story mode ever for a dragon ball game in my opinion- and it doesn't miss out the slightest of information from the story.

Bandai, just get the characters of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and this game would be the best dragon ball game ever.

  Flawed but Great Game

Gameplay is a lot different from all other Dragonball fighting games for any console. In a way it requires more planning and stratagy than the others as you have to plan your attacks leading up to others.
The game has so many flaws cause Spikes Licence for the Dragonball games series is up, same happened when Burst Limit(Wasn't Spikes Game) came along, lack of characters and rushed in general for release. They were focused on Graphics and redoing the entire Anime cutscenes which are not taken from the Remastered or Kai. Lack of characters is easily made up with DLC but missing out Base forms and other transformations important characters seemed a little too far. (EG; Teen Gohan, Adult Gohan, Gotenks(Base) Goten and Trunks, Vegito(Base), Vegeta(SSJ2),Super Buu(Gotenks Absorbed) and so on. Even omitting Uub and both SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta concidering they have SSJ4 Gogeta. I was dissapointed when i saw the character line up a few weeks before release.

Story Mode is your usual play through the motions of the Z series with some movie and GT mixed in.
Hero Mode in my opinion is a great idea, finally... Custom Characters. Pitty its just Male Saiyans and Hero Mode is fairly short but requires a lot of grinding to even have a hope of completing this mode as it is extremely hard. AI is utterly ruthless.

Ive been getting Dragonball Games since i was 12 when i picked up Final Bout for the PS, this is one hell of a change, if you don't like change, i wouldn't reccomend this but any diehard Dragonball fan wouldn't pass this up as its something new rather than spamming Super/Ultimate moves over and over to win.

Giving it a 4/5 cause of the lack of characters mainly but Spike will hopefully keep the Licence and make another similar. I do hope future releases keep the Character Creation as again its a nice change and ive been wanting it myself for a long time.

  Reason not to buy game

This game has changed so much compared to the other newer dragonball games I have. I would recommend it as a no buy. Dislike the fight mode and I really feel let down. Also it didn't have the characters all the other games did.
