The 2012 was the year when football became boring

It really seems so. I've been playing it for four weeks and the tactical defending really ruins it and slows the pace of the game. It is not entertaining to play anymore. You just try get half of the time the ball back from CPU which predicts your every move and also plays towards his own goal frustratingly often. Also sliding tackles go through the players as they would be invisible. It is amazingly slow to shoot so about everytime you get into position of shooting CPU will just come and take the ball away from you. Oh, and it is so rare for you to get into the actual box. You just have to try to shoot from long range. Opposite taking goalkicks is slow also, the goalkeeper just keeps standing there. No more header goals it seems, since the opposite is always between you and the ball. When giving a through ball even the best runners (Ronaldo, Messi etc.) can't beat the defenders. They slow their pace to half when getting the ball and then opposite comes and end your attack. This year's Fifa was a great disappointment and I'd highly recommend to stick with the Fifa 2011 if you haven't bought this game yet.

  Amazing best yet

After reading some reviews it has amazed me how many people say this is no good.well this for me is the total and best football game there is and i thank EA games for this title. Anybody who says its frustrating is because perhaps your doing something wrong you need to change the way you play . this is not a game where you can pick up the ball and run straight ahead and score lol well unless you ve mastered the basic art of football. when i first played this i thought wow defending is hard but its absolutly amazing when you learn how to play tidy. I cant put it down onlines better with the divisions seperates the boys from the men lol buy this if your a football fan as you wont be dissapointed its a must have every year.
plus all you PES fans dont even compare fifa 12 to PES. My opinion not in same league fifa 12 10/10 PES 6/10 and thats me being honest

  Best Footballing Game

The new gameplay is magnificent once you have grasped the new gamneplay. It was difficult to alter to such a change but has made defending a lot better compared to past fifa games.

Well done EA brilliant game

good game however the new online system is awful! you seem to always play against barcalona or real madrid and it cannont set you up a game if you want to be a team less than 4 stars!!!!

Having been a fan of FIFA for years, i can honestly state I will never buy another one...it has just got worse and worse over the past couple of years.

I find myself laughing at the game half the time with all the appalling passes even teams like Barca and Real make.

Play it on semi-pro and you'll win 8 or 9-0 each game, play it on Pro, and you'll be lucky to score once...the most unplayable football game yet, even tempted to go for Pro-Evo next time...

Pants!

  getting better and better

when fifa 12 first came out for me it was great but now after several updates they seem to nearly be perfect. 5/5

  Fifa 11 was better

Fifa 11 was the only game i had/played, huge fifa fan. This game is awful, and by awful i dont me the new game play is 'too hard'. The passing power sometimes has a mind of its own, shooting is random, if you put in a standing tackle with your last defender and miss you have no chance of gettin back, and if you do make a tackle its 50/50 who the balls going to end up with, while defending a chip through ball half the time while your selected player changes he stops running and the attacker is away. Manager mode is boring. was a big fan of Ultimate team but they still havent made it as good as it could be. Not a fan of this game. One thing i like is the new online season, head to head games. Makes online more exciting than just playin game after game. However not seeing your oppenents selection of team and strip is no good, for example Chelsea v Chelsea, or choosin the ssame colour tops :\. Hope its better next year or i might have to move to PES :O

the game is a great game overall once you get your head around the new defending then you are fine

  Initially frustrating but keep going!

As many of the other reviews have stated the initial thought of the game are wow Im never going to be able to play this with the new defending techniques being difficult to master. This resulted in around 10 matches of 5-1 & 4-0 defeats and plenty of screaming at the TV!

With practice and patience you will get to grips with the new defending system and although I have yet to master it but I can control it and you feel much more in control of the player and his decision making rather than the hunt the ball down system of FIFA 11. Apart from the defending the look and feel is a massive improvement from the last title with realism at an all time high in my opinion visually.

As an online gamer the most frustrating thing about the FIFA titles is a player quitting half way through a game. This is one of the reasons I stopped playing FIFA 11 unless it was against my friends. In FIFA 12 the introduction of head to head seasons means that a player can still quit but after 5 mins on the clock has passed you are awarded with the win whatever the current score line. With the addition of promotion and relegation depending upon the number of wins you get within 10 games there is something to strive for with opponents becoming better matched to your level throughout the promotions.

With the online factor in this way I would say this FIFA is definitely worth a buy but make sure you stick at the defending and you will ultimately love this FIFA title. If EA sports would get rid of the quit button in matches it wouldnt be far off perfect for online gaming.

  Better than ever!

Yes the gameplay has changed, but changed for the better. There is now much more to the game than ever before. Personally I prefer the new tactical defending but I appreciate that it is frustrating and it can be changed to the normal defending as in the previous years in the game settings

Overall I think the game is vastly improved from previous editions, the problem for EA is how are they going to mafe FIFA 13 better??
