  Halo 4 Me

| | See all FRIDGE1981's reviews (28)

Finally another Halo has been delivered to our beloved 360s. At long last Master Chief and everybody's favorite A.I are reunited in their efforts to save humanity from whoever and whatever is threatening it. I can tell you its been worth the wait indeed. The quality of the graphics are staggering, a real feast for the eye. The game play is of course as good as ever.

The story line this time focuses more on the origins of Halo. It takes the Chief on a magical mystery tour "for want of a better phrase" across the galaxy and into the path of that ancient race of advanced civilization, the Forerunners. I feel that this story is a little more serious as opposed to previous Halos, and I think targets a more mature audience especially the Diehard Haloists such as myself.

I really feel that 343 has done this game justice. It really frustrates me to hear people moaning on about how this isn't right and that doesn't work etc. Of course people are entitled to their own opinions, but if you are going to criticize then do so constructively. Don't go on a belligerent and pedantic rant with no supporting evidence or fact ! More than likely no one would have ever have known if another games developer had taken over the reigns, if Bungie had not made the announcement. Regarding the story, people complain that they don't understand it and things do not make sense. We must realize people that this storyline is a new 3 part saga. Of course there are gaps and unanswered questions, so there is room for material later where things will become clearer.

The multi-player is very entertaining and highly addictive. Also the Spartan ops side missions are a nice touch that keeps the game fresh. Overall I am very impressed and look forward to the continuing saga of the Master Chief.

  343 Killed Halo.

| | See all HartlandGames's reviews (38)

Yes, I predicted it. This is Halo Reach 2. This review is based on the Multiplayer as that is what 90% of the people who buy it buy it for

First of all there is no trueskill, some guy mentioned it on waypoint but who really cares about that rubbish? It is NOTHING compared to Bungie.net as the menus are confusing and is generally a bad website.

There are constant powerups? AND killstreaks where you can spawn a gun such as the rocket launcher or incineration binary thing (1 shot death to any part of the body with a sniper zoom). This is the fail of Halo Reach all over again, why the hell would you want an unbalanced multiplayer game by making you able to constantly have camouflage/constant shield/jetpack/hologram?! The game constantly reminds you that if your a good player, you will be owned by Noobs and 343.

The emblems are bad as I am level 20 and there is literally 10 to choose from all from Halo 3. The multiplayer menu when you find people is annoying as everyones name is sideways, why not just leave it like Halo 3. If its not broke, DON'T FIX IT!

Also as a nice little bonus they have added mantis which are like a giant mech you can jump in, adding to the number of vehicles you can hog if you have no skill in aiming with a gun.

There are some good points to this game..which are..um..the graphics are bright and you get lots of XP for doing challenges. But the game is very frustrating if you are a decent Halo 3 player like me (HighSkill 47)

The colours on the armor you can have are all the same with a primary and secondary, and to be honest I am really dissapointed how each of the armors look. Each just look really rushed and boring and none of them make you go "Wow! how did he get that helmet, I want that!" Not even recon (which you get at like level 19).

The BR has been kept but there is a very stupidly over-powered gun, the DMR. Its a single shot gun which if shot in the head (not hard atall) kills you in 5 shots. This means in some games if 2 or more people are aiming at you, you literally have 2.5 seconds to live.

Must be 343 Fans downgrading my votes, it's a shame they don't know the true beauty of what Bungie did to Halo. Literally none of my 30 friends play this anymore that's how good it is.

Overall the campaign is ok but you can complete it in around 3 hours with a friend, and if you liked halo reach then you will like this. However, if you think 343 is a very big fail like me and you love Bungie and how halo used to be, save your hard earned cash.

  GAME OF THE YEAR

HALO 4 ROCKS
No matter what anyone says halo 4 is better then call of duty black ops 2
GRAPHICS
The graphics are stunning the cutscenes are movie like. the graphics are some of the best ever on the Xbox 360 The facial animation are amazing.
STORY
The story for halo 4 is a very moving experience. The story is based on Cortana. Cortana is on a rampant ( aka dying ) and it up to Master Chief to once again save the day. The story lasts for about 10 hours and also it has a co-op story so you can play with friends
MUTIPLAYER
Well the mutiplayer is a let down the maps are to small. Not that many game modes like reach had.

The overall score is 9.5 It a must buy if your a fan of the games your love it if your new well this is a good way to start with halo

  Yep, its another Halo game

| | See all Lamaldo's reviews (1)

With no Halo's in it. Either did Halo:Reach, Halo 3: ODST or Halo 3 come to think of it. So that means Halo 2 was the last game actually featuring a Halo ring? That means only a third of all Halo games (Halo wars not included) have a Halo in them.

Anyway, just an observation, this is still a great game and by far the best looking. Its still very much a Halo game though so if you didn't like the previous games its not going to float your boat I'm afraid.

If you're new to the series though its a great sci-fi universe where you get to shoot guns, throw grenades, play multiplayer, use the theater to watch replays of your matches and also use the Forge to build and experiment with your own maps.

  Love the game BUT......

Game brilliant but should have gone to local Game Stop. Cost me an extra 19.31 euro for customs. Not impressed! Thought I was getting from UK but it was shipped through Jersey?? Will be going elsewhere for Xmas gifts. No more games from play.com for this long term customer.

more launch title then end of gen title

| | See all stwiie's reviews (30)

Ok i will admit im not a halo fan i find the chief to be a very dull, boring and uninteresting character and this extends to the universe too. Being a arty person and a massive film and game buff the design of it all just lacks any punch or style at all when you sit it next to greats like gears of war or killzone. I had no idea what the story was on about cos i had lost interest within half hour it was that dull to be honest and using CGI in some cut scenes was terrible cos no one really does that now, its usually a case of ingame engine on a workstation then compressed into video so it almost blends with realtime. The single player is basically metal corridor after metal corridor then some jungle and rocks then back to metal corridors, no variation at all. Same goes for the weapons too the alien ones are exactly the same as the chiefs ones with the same functions, there is no effort made to make them fire different or do anthing different which is very poor. The small good thing about the game is that its finally entered the HD generation after 6yrs the bad part is it looks like a launch window title with no lighting from weapons, grass and bushes dont move a inch in the wind again very poor. This is not what a MAJOR title should look like at the end of a machines cycle!!! Multiplayer is good fun but you can still get away with just using the main rifle every single time lol. Overall a very VERY poor showing for a end of gen game which looking at it shouldnt of been given to a new team to make and bungie should of stayed with it

  "..EPIC.."

Its finally here and made by new people but the legacy has been done justice with the best halo adventure since the original, the graphics are noticeable immediately! They have much improved and look sweet, the campaign mode is awesome with one of the best stories in a halo game, lots of original new ideas that break out into so many cool ways, Spartan ops mode is great even though it replaces firefight does I feel still have a lasting appeal once you have all 50 missions there will be plenty of challenges to complete, the multiplayer is fantastic with so many new weapons and maps and cool new armour upgrades etc the forge mode is back too for endless building your own maps, all round you wont be bored of this for many years! A must for fan.

Fantastic, probably the best of all the Halo's

| | See all LairdofLochaber's reviews (3)

I'm an ageing and seasoned gamer who has been playing games since the old Atari's.

Ive played ALL the Halo's since owning my original Xbox (pre 360) and Halo 4 is probably the best of the lot,

The campaign is crisp, expansive and pulls you into the character and his devotion to Cortana.

To get the best out of the game pick the hardest level that you can comfortable manage, some reviews say that they completed the game in 3 Hours, well they obviously went through on an easier level than their capability which will only shorten your enjoyment of the game. Take it slowly and kill every enemy on each level thereby giving you the satisfaction of knowing you are beaten the bad boys. Rushing through to the exit just proves you are a good runner and not a good player.
The choice of weapons is adequate without giving you a confusion of choices and the variety of vehicles and experiences are bound to bring a smile to your face.

I'm no expert when it comes to multi-player because at the end of the day the principals of these game are basically all the same kill, die, kill, die...... although I look forward to playing the co-op missions with my son.

For me, I am a campaign lover and this game ticks all the boxes and I can honestly say that this is one of the best campaign shooters I have played in a long time and I loved it, bring on Halo 5.

Halo is back. 1-50 true skill coming in January

| | See all harshash's reviews (5)

I've played Halo since Combat Evolved. Every game has been great. I was skeptical about a new company taking over from Bungie, but the strangest thing is...Halo 4 might actually be the best Halo ever. From the epic campaign (which I haven't finished yet) with its amazing graphics, to the highly addictive and fast paced multiplayer which brings in new "fun" elements whilst staying true to the halo triangle of weapons, grenades and melee. To the 10 week long separate campaign of Spartan Ops. 343 Industries really has out-done Bungie and in June of 2011 when they announced Halo 4 I never thought I would be saying that.

Everything just seems better, better graphics, better weapons and better multiplayer. On the multiplayer side of things there's new playlists like Infinity Slayer that provide a really fun modern approach to Halo with the introduction of Ordnance Drops, then there's straight up Slayer Pro for people that want that classic Halo (everyone has the same weapons and no advantages). 343 really seems to have put the needs of the hardcore players first whilst providing an on ramp for new comers. Speaking of competitive multiplayer launching in January 343 are launching a 1-50 true skill ranking system available for players who loved the ranking Halo 2 and 3 had. It will be available to view on Halo Waypoint and not the game itself (to deter boosters and derankers). Please ignore the blatantly obvious Call Of Duty trolls that are leaving negative reviews. Halo 4 is a triumph. Halo is back.
