From the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection offers a handful of the most popular Metal Gear Solid titles from the past in true HD for the first time ever. Featuring three complete games, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the HD Collection offers old and new fans a chance to experience the epic game play, design and storytelling of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

The Metal Gear Solid series is the seminal work of Hideo Kojima, Japan's master game creator, and the progenitor of the stealth action game genre. The series has become a global phenomenon, with over 27 million copies sold worldwide. The player controls a secret agent from an elite special forces unit who is sent on solo sneaking missions through enemy installations, vast jungles, and sometimes even the thick of battle. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. But that is the secret behind the series' popularity-the cerebral challenge of figuring out how to avoid combat, and the thrill of sneaking through enemy territory undetected.

The Metal Gear Solid series is also known for its storyline, which blends seamlessly with the gameplay. The scenarios are based on extensive research and incorporate the drama of actual developments in society.

These elements have made Metal Gear Solid what it is today: a mature work of entertainment that transcends national borders and the confines of video games, and one of the leading products of the Japanese content business.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Players take the role of a one-man army determined to stop a deadly high-tech weapon from falling into the hands of a highly elite resistance group known as Dead Cell. Playwers must utilise their skills in stealth, weaponry, and counter-terrorism to fight off the competing powers. Progress through a twisting storyline and eventually face the gigantic war machine, Metal Gear Ray.

Metal Gear Solid 3: In the struggle to achieve world peace and world dominance in the Cold War period, rivaling governments are secretly developing weapons technology that could threaten the future existence of life. Destined to be the first, a race ensues to become the ultimate nation. A special elite tactical soldier is summoned to penetrate deep in the heart of enemy territory and obtain Intel about "Metal Gear", a prototype weapon with nuclear capabilities. This is your mission and you must infiltrate alone. As "Naked Snake," you must outsmart enemies with camouflage, close-quarters combat, stalking, interrogating, climbing, hunting and treating injuries in this critical chapter of the Metal Gear saga.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker: The era is the 1970s. Big Boss has stations his "Soldiers without Borders" in Columbia, South America, where he was approached by a visitor from Costa Rica, (a nation without a military). In the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, a mysterious armed force seemed to be engaging in suspicious activities. Players take control of the famed Naked Snake at a critical junction in modern history. Advanced co-operative techniques allows multiple players to sneak into the fray and accomplish this mission together.

Three Great Games Despite the Endless Cut Scenes

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Metal Gear Solid 2 ****
Judged by some as disappointing following Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation Sons of Liberty makes for an intriguing gaming experience despite its faults. The cut scenes may still be too long, the plot pointlessly confusing, Raiden slightly annoying and the oil rig setting certainly lacking in the diversity of the Shadow Moses Facility of the first game but thanks to a number of refinements and additions to the 'tactical espionage system' the gameplay itself is actually, for the most part superior to the original even of it is comparatively lacking in the imagination department.

Metal Gear Solid 3 ****
Slight departure from first two Metal Gear Solid games 'Snake Eater', takes place in a Russian jungle in 1964 before the enemy detecting radar had been invented and this brings a whole new level of tension to the gameplay as you can no longer be certain of exactly where the enemies are.

The jungle itself also provides for a far more interesting setting than the oil rig from the series previous entry. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing but it also has a real impact upon gameplay with your level of camouflage vital to remaining hidden. The games hand-to-hand fighting mechanics have also seen an overhaul with the introduction of the CQC system. This allows Snake to pull off a more complex set of combat moves and even tackle more than one enemy at once. On the negative side there is still the odd camera issue to be found but the biggest problem, as with previous Metal Gear games, continues to be the quite frankly ludicrously long cut scenes (Some must exceed the half-hour mark!).

Peace Walker ****
Originally a PSP title this spin-off breaks the gameplay down into shorter missions. The series trademark stealth gameplay is still in evidence but many missions can now be played in co-op adding a new layer of tactics to proceedings. Between missions captured enemy soldiers can be used to help manage your home base in order to keep morale high and develop new weapons and technology. This adds a further level of depth to an already deep and enjoyable game. Cut scenes, although not exactly short, are also nowhere near the length of previous entries thanks to its background as a portable game.
