Dead Space 3

Another gem in the series. Visuals are great, sound is perfect and the atmosphere is still there.

Panic is a big feature in the game as you need to decide what to do and fast. A new kind of fear in games I think.

And the pinball machine made me drop my controller.

People have a divided opinion over this game, I just finished it so i'll summarize the pros and cons, plus what people are saying.

Pros

Same amazing action/horror like first two.
Exciting gameplay. Incredible production.
Length Solo campaign 20 plus hours with side missions.
Making weapons is addictive.
Varied environments, beautiful visuals and set pieces.
Many different difficulty settings/modes for any play style.
Choice of Co-op (though isn't as scary with backup)

Cons
More action than horror.
Story, though has amazing sections, isn't really as good as first two.
Characters are a bit weak, Not much development.
Atmosphere suffers due to fast pace at times.
Cover system is useless, but can get by without it.
Normal is too easy, up it.

Overall it's it's an amazing game in my opinion, it has some flaws, but still an excellent thrill ride. Still a must buy for sci fi horror action.

Being a huge Dead Space fan, I have played both the previous games to bits, the original one being completed 100%, so I know the franchise very well.
Gameplay wise i was not so keen on the more action orientated approach of 2, and even more so the 3rd game but I had to buy this anyways as a fan.
What I have seen so far, and im about halfway through first completion, is another cracking addition to the series.
Yes, it is defo more action than the first but not too over the top.
The crucial thing is the atmosphere, and its here in droves, its not quite the balls out horror of the first but the scares are there and there are some AMAZING set pieces, the game starts off brill and never lets up, the opening prologue was ace, graphically its a new high point for the series.
Sound design is always a strong point and it shines here, the music is amazing and has a real Alien feel to it with the fading/echoey string sections, also I love the reverb on the clanking metal or bangs and creaks as you enter some rooms.
What I love is the continuity of the series, they all look related, as they should, and feel linked which can only help the story, which I like so far!!!
Overall, this is a great title, yes I wish thay would do a pure survival horror like DS1, but for now this will do.
If u like the DS series than go buy this, for me it makes up for the huge disappointment I felt when I bought Aliens Colonial Marines only to discover a good but not great game.

If you liked dead space 2 and the original this is a nice new direction for the series, gun crafting is good and making items is much better than the shop format system, there are optional side missions which are good for those who like to go exploring :-), co-op is a nice touch but the down side is that some side mission are co-op only this is a pain if you don't have a mate to play with and don't want some random messing up your game. but 09/10

I'm very proud of what Visceral Games has made with the third main entry in DS's franchise. It stil has got the atmosphere that we loved in the two previous games and it's as scary as the second.
Besides i think that Dead Space (1) will ALWAYS be the best sruvival horror game ever made, Dead Space 3 is a worthwhile sequel which keeps the franchise alive!
