I bought this when it cost £130. Had only been out a few months.

I then bought King Kong, 2 fast 2 furious, and the Mission Impossible trilogy. Absolutely amazing quality. I use it with my Windows PC most of them time, on Vista and XP (you need a copy of powerDVD to do this) and its excellent in full 1080p quality.

Equal quality to blu-ray but only £3-4 per film now.

I have about 25 HD-DVD's now and have just found a disc drive that does blu-ray and HD-DVD for £65 brand new, so I can continue to buy HD-DVD's for as long as they are around, and now start getting the latest movies on blu-ray.

I'd recommend getting one of these if you can, and see if you can get your favourite DVD movies in HD-DVD. 2 fast 2 furious for example, is a far better experience than the DVD for both sound and visual quality.

If you have a Netbook you can also plug this in and use it as a DVD drive so you can install all your software. And it has 2 USB ports on the back so it also acts as a HUB, so even without the HD-DVD's this is quite a useful piece of kit to have anyway.

The quality is the same as Blu-ray due to the compression techniques used, the movies don't need as much space on disc. So if your not sure on whether or not to get a blu-ray player just yet, this is a good way to decide. If the quality of the HD-DVD's isn't good enough for you, blu-ray won't be worth £200-300.
