Firstly, I own a 360, Wii and PS3 and without doubt for me the X360 is currently the heavy weight champ of the next gen consoles. More about the console later. This package is amazing
When I got my X360 at launch, a core package before upgrading to the full package here and buying all the extra hardware and games to make this package in total cost me £410, and here it is at just £10 more than the Premium console on its own. You get £50 worth of games and a £25 controller for an extra £10. In total your saving around £180.
Want to know about the games in detail read my other reviews, but to summerise... . PGR4 is very good indeed, especially in HD, the Arcade games are some of the poorer games available, but still, again your almost getting it for free.
The supplied HD component cable also includes standard definiton connections so if you've not got component inputs on your TV this should not put you off.
Graphically the X360 is superb in HD. Graphically currently the best there is, the PS3 although its hardware is more powerful cannot match the X360's visuals at this time of writing, and the games provided here will show case that.
You will need an Optical Digital cable to make use of the X360's surround sound and it is excellent.
I'm sure you've heard horror stories about X360's breaking down, mine did. I was gutted but the service by microsoft was excellent. It was within its warranty period (which is standard 12 months), when it broke I rang microsoft, they emailed me a UPS package logo, snet the UPS man round to my house to pick up the Xbox, and sent it back repaired about 1 week later all free of charge and no hassle. So if it does break its not the end of the world.
Xbox Live is without doubt the consoles edge over the competition. Xbox Live Arcade is excellent, with nearly 100 games available at around £5 each and new games released every Wednesday (Arcade Wednesdays) there will no doubt be something there for you that you remember playing in your miss-spent youth.
Xbox Leaderboards appear on all games - so reckon your good, see how you compare to the rest of the world who is online playing the game.
Online Multiplayer is awesome, Gears of War co-op a highlight, but all games can be played online in someway.
Sure, the X360 has a noisy fan when you play your sound at low volumes its clearly audible. But put that with the Pro's - Beautiful graphics in HD, brilliant on line gaming. A gamercard to track your achievements in games youve played. Customizable dashboard, hundreds of games and at least 20 excellent ones, that it will play your DVD's, speak to computers in your house so you can view photos from there harddrive on your main TV, stream music from your PC whist playing games and play your music in every game rather than the games in game music. Has Digital surround sound output. Great voice communiction and easy friends management, child friendly settings. Play your own music in game, keep your games upto date for any bugs and play new levels via downloads. And this list isn't extensive
To sum up. Right now the X360 is the best, in 12 months, when the PS3 has some great games in its catalogue there will be a battle for supremecy, but right now, this is the best there is and this is a tremendous value for money package
