 Amazing game

Whilst the 3-4 hour installation does drag on, this game is truely a master piece.

This is the first Final Fantasy game that I have truely enjoyed and continued to play (I've been playing for over a year now, since the 360 beta test). With a massive world to explore, millions of quests to do and lots of interesting and unique activities to join in with friends you know personally or have just met online, you can end up being hooked for hours.

Getting started in the game may be a bit overwhelming due to the complexity of the game, but once you've cracked it, you'll find that there is are some very good stories to be told (particularly the Chains of Promathia story), with some very memorable bosses and a massive load of end-game material.

Graphics are far from perfect in this game and can look very washed out (even on an HDTV). The music is very good too...when it's there (unfortunatly a lot of the areas don't have music).

The online community is also very good, with someone always willing to help out those who are new to the game. Teaching you the basics, how to do things properly and answering any questions you have.

I recommend this game to everyone and that they atleast give it a try. You get 30 days free anyway, so if you don't like it, then just uninstall and call it quits. But this game is truely a gem in its own unique way.

A Must Buy For MMORPG Fans

For myself I find Final Fantasy XI my most played game across all platforms. I highly recommend this game. You MUST have atleast 7GB space on your HDD, initial game and old expansion packs will take 6GB, "Wing Of The Goddess" will take about 300MB and the remaining space for updates. Now you may find the grapic element below par but you need to realise it is 5yrs old as it is and if you're playing in HD it still looks great.. There is a wide range of jobs available plus various crafts you can participate in. The gaming world is huge so there is no fear of ending the game or covering the whole area anytime soon. I currently pay £10.39 p/m for 3 characters (£8.99 for base then £0.70 per additional character). You DO NOT need a XBOX Live Gold account t play, the game can be accessed on a XBOX Live Silver Account. Now there are pitfalls in the game, main one being the lack of helpful players in the game, setting up a party to enter tougher area can be a task at times but it still worth playing. Initial setsup will take a few hours so I strongly suggest you start installation when you have a few hours to spare. There are several updates but in my opinion that is good as it maintains the servers. "Serapth" is the newsest server and "Alexander" is the biggest server ie more people on it.

This is THE best MMORPG out there!

Final Fantasy XI will keep you entertained for years! with hundreds of quests and missions this MMO will never run out of things to do.

There is already 3 expansion packs out for this game and a new expansion (Wings of the Goddess) is due for release later this year.

If you are a fan of any Final Fantasy game you will love this game. With all the same summons from the previous games (Ifrit, Shiva ect) you'll still feel close to the Final Fantasy Franchise even if this is not a single player game.

I Highly recommed buying this game if you want a good MMORPG to play becuase this game will last you years. I have owned this game for 3 years and i still play it a lot.

i would also reccomend a USB keyboard becuase without it, talking to your party or friends can be a real bummer.

Fantastic. Well Worth Getting. Love It.

This game is brilliant, well worth the time spent, plenty to explore 1000s to meet.

The Goods: When I started exploring the city, people who where a lot more experienced than I where always at hand, giving me gold to buy weapons and storage for the house. High ranked users spare tens of 1000s to get you started, theirs always people in the game to help you, even for stupid questions you got. I would highly recommend getting a USB keyboard also to plug into your Xbox 360, talking to users with your Xbox controller takes far too long to type, they get bored and walk away and you get nothing. This game is linked to other consoles like the PC and PS2, luckily I haven't met ps2 users yet, just PC. Amazing that games are linking systems now to play, log out and use your same profile to log into the PC version that stores your buddy list, emails, etc.. on the FF XI servers.

The Bads: 40 minutes to register with your controller, id recommend getting a USB keyboard to type up your registration card \ details. Started installing the game on the Xbox 360 console at 21.30 finished at 23.45. Don't plan playing on the day you receive it unless you plan doing an all nighter.

You will also be spending a few days just getting your level up, so you can actually start doing things big, a few days is nothing compared to the amount you be playing. Lets just get it dawn and dusted..

Good Luck

I bought this game with high expectations (after reading the other reviews). However, I have to say it is very disappointing! The game takes hours to set up due to an excessive number of updates needed and when you finally get to play it, you will find poor graphics, confusing controls and a boring experience in general. Don't forget - square enix will also charge you £8.99 every month on top of your xbox live subscription. The bottom line - there are much better games online than this. Don't waste your money!!
