Firstly, dont read the reviews about the demo, I think play.com should not let people submit reviews untill the game has been released, because a demo review just never gives a game justice and you have 8 million reviews before the game comes out (look at halo 3 for instance)
OK! Well my friend rang me up and told me to get this game, as we used to play through the Final Fantasy series alot and he recommended this game. So I told him I'd read it wasnt so good, and I had tried the demo and I couldnt make my mind up, so I went round his house to check it out. He showed me the basics and I decided to get the game for myself, and it was the best decision I could have made.
I'm glad I havent missed out on this game, firstly it is turn based combat, and if you liked the older Final Fantasy games (Like FF7), then you will love this game. Its not as adult themed / serious as Final Fantasy at first, but after a while of getting into the story, things start to get serious and the story keeps you intrigued ALL of the time.
The combat is excellent and the achievements will make you play this game well over the 40 hour estimated finish mark (if you want to get the achievements that is)
I cant deny that the music is ALOT like Final Fantasy, almost identical but its also just as damn addictive, and I find it a good thing.
This game is a breath of fresh air for the 360, as the 360 is getting known for just drawn out FPS shooters now, and this game changes all of that. It has alot of FMV's and the story will keep you involved with the game. The skill based system is excellent and the game has alot of Fnal Fantasy in the mix, and that is definatly not a bad thing.
I suggest if you like FF and games that are similar then please do not miss out on this game!
Do not judge a book by its cover, this is not the game I first thought it would be, and it has turned out so much better. I thought it was going to be some Pokemon clone, but it sooo isnt.
The characters do look similar to DBZ, as the artist who created the DBZ characters created the characters for Blue Dragon. Plus they do tend to have a Japanese theme to them, with some phrases a bit cheesy, but the combat system, the skill system and the story will definatly turn this game into a classic.
A brilliant game, do not go by the demo reviews please, the demo does not give this game the justice, if you love the final fantasy games then get this game. Dont make the same mistake I did and think its some kiddy pokemon game because it definatly isnt.
Trust me, BUY it now. You'll be missing out on a great game if you dont.
