OH MY GOD WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, this is a complete waste of money. Im gutted ive spent £70, when all you need is the standard edition.

The Legendary Edition, which retails for £70 comes in a sizeable cube. It's covered in a black sleeve, which unfolds into a fairly awesome Master Chief poster. Inside the box is the somewhat infamous Master Chief helmet. This replica helmet, slightly smaller than a human head, fits on a rectangular base which is numbered. The limited nature of the helmet seems, well, not so limited as my numbered edition is six figures. When you pass 150,000, that's not so "limited." The helmet is pretty swank and the base also holds the two game boxes that come with the set.

The first box has the game, and comes with a rather unspectacular black cover. The second box is marked "Halo 3 Essentials," also with an unattractive smoky black cover. This contains two discs of extras.
The second disc is exclusive to the Legendary Edition and, frankly, it's pretty disappointing. The DVD displays only in 4:3 and features some terrible video compression. As stated above, this DVD is shown only in 4:3 and looks terrible on a hi-def or standard-def TV. With Bungie's dedication towards technical excellence, it's a bit of a surprise to see a DVD included in a £70 set that is so subpar. The Legenary box promises "remastered, hi-res versions of Halo and Halo 2 cinematics." This is complete bunk. The cinematics are not in hi-res and, in fact, are so poorly compressed, they look worse than the original games. Though the 136 minute-long series of cut-scenes offers a complete replay of the stories of Halo 1 and 2, it could not have been handled any more poorly. This is not what you should get after spending so much on a special edition set.

       FEEL LIKE A GAMING GOD!!!

Ok first of all i loved this box set, the spartan helmet rules and whats better you can store your game and dvd's in it and the art on the box is amazingly done and i think worth the money, the dvd's with it if you watch them realy make you appreciate what these guys at bungie and the testers put into these games, plus you get little animations "red vs blue" for example and a "warthog jump" game, the name is what it basically is, i admit the halo 1&2 cut scenes could have been better made but hay thats what is what the old game are for, to play again if we want to see them, Ok to the game itself. If you know halo and or have brought them in the past you know strait away that you are going to lose hours of your life and a lot of your internet bandwidth is going to be halo's slave, and if your any thing like me with halo you have been waiting and preying this game is good, and believe me it is! First thing you will notice as soon as you put the disc in is the menu system it has been completely redone to 360 graphics and capabilities, what is also noticeable is the fact that the menu's are a lot like being on line which is a total bonus because you can turn the story mode into a instant 4 player co-op game with your friends, the story in itself is amazing full of depth and grip as a halo story should be with lots of twists and turns and just enough there to make you scratch your head while your blood is pumping for more, the levels are a lot more open and feel a lot more fun then all the previous halo's, I will not reveal the story line as like most halo fans have been trying to avoid spoilers, one of the most noticeable things with this halo and in the past you more or less go alone with one ship with you doing all the work is the intelligence of the enemies and your soldiers, and most of the time there is so much happening on the screen you really do feel as part of a team and at hardly any point are you alone, also there are more weapons and vehicles human and alien to play and get used to! All of them are great to use and do actually help you in the game rather then just be add on, one thing that halo has been the best at is multiplayer you can literally customise anything! The levels (which some old ones return from previous halos and new ones), the guns, the suits (and yes you can be the covenant again) the vehicles thanks to the new forge mode that lets you customise, and one new feature that I love is the fact you can file share with people, if you liked a map online you can save it and use it later! Also it remembers your settings so you don't have to always mess around every time you log on, the match making has also been improved to make it easier yet more complex so you can have more fun. All in all if any one that loves halo or this type of game will truly love this so much I would recommend it to any one who either loves a good story or a good online frag fest.

       not so legendary!

i just got the legendary edition today and it was a waste of money.. apart form the helmet everything else is just a waste of time as the dvd's are nothing special and the halo 1 + 2 are exactly the same as the original versions and most halo fans have played them for years so whats the point in playing them again?. so i recomend that you get the collectors edition if your looking for that extra something

The large box, contains the rare and exclusive halo helmet, as well cool box art work, both on outside and inside sleeve. Plus you get a HD bonus disc packed dwith lots of cool stuff. Pricey at time, however a worthy investment for the future, given some of the prices that they went for during and after the official release date.
The game is simply amazing, but worth sticking with to see the final conclusion at the end.
