FIFA 08 challenges players to master the skills required to play like a professional football player. Fans around the world can experience the same highs and lows of real-world players and tackle the challenges they face on a daily basis. The FIFA 08 next-gen gameplay engine, built to maximise the power of the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, delivers animations and ball control that is so responsive you feel like you are actually on the pitch. Players are now aware of their surroundings, reacting authentically to threats and opportunities to make intelligent decisions. Now with the FIFA 08 shooting system you can enjoy even more control and precision in front of the goal to become a true marksman.

For the first time ever, fans playing FIFA 08 will face the pressure to improve their game that real-world players endure every day. A new play mode called 'Be A Pro' locks you in the role of a single player and challenges you to master the same disciplines as a real professional player - from positioning and tackling to reading the field and passing. FIFA 08 now gives every football fan the chance to perform pro skills with a true next-generation organic 'building-block' system. You can combine tricks and skill moves together to recreate signature moves from the real-world superstars or define your own style of play. You can even capture video of your best moves and goals in-game and upload to the FIFA 08 website to show off your style and celebrate your glory with friends across the globe.

The award-winning Interactive Leagues debuts on the Xbox 360 as part of the deepest online feature set to date. Represent your club online against your rivals throughout the season in the F.A. Premier League, Bundesliga, French League or Mexican 1st Division. When they play, you play. Plus, create and organise your own multiplayer Friends Leagues and tournaments with all the tools in-game.

Clinical Finishing: A true next-generation ball-striking engine calculates shot success by combining an almost infinite number of different contexts, including ball spin, pressure from defenders, player attributes, and even air pressure to recreate the drama and unpredictable nature of shooting.

Intelligent Football: Now featuring A.I. with a 35-point decision engine which enables players to process 1,000 potential options and reactions every second in real-time - more than 60,000 options every minute - via a dynamic 'Threat Map' system to capture the excitement and realism of soccer.

Be a Pro - Offline Training: Think and react like a real professional football player. Play the entire game as a fixed player while getting real-time feedback and analysis on the fly. A unique camera angle keeps both player and action in focus, zooming in when you're on attack.

Pro Skills: A new, organic building-block system enables you to combine tricks and skill moves together to recreate signature moves from the real-world superstars or define your own style of play. Animations can be interrupted at any time to transition into a new move, just like real-life.

Manual Controls: Dictate the play with new manual controls for through-passing and crossing. Now use the right-stick to quickly switch defenders and choose exactly who you want defending, when you want him.

Online Leagues: Create and organise your own multiplayer Friends Leagues and tournaments with all the tools in-game.

EA Sports Interactive Leagues: Represent your club online against your rivals throughout the season in the F.A. Premier League, Bundesliga, French League or Mexican 1st Division. Features weekly in-game podcasts by the development team.

I never write reviews ever but after reading a few i thought i had to enter this debate. Yes Pro Evo and FIFA are two different games but for years now Pro have made very minor updates to a pretty good football engine but with no real progress to the older series. I was a solid Pro player back from the days of ISS - when FIFA was quite simply hideous to play. I brought Fifa 07 last year for the 360 and although far from the finished article was quite impressed.
So to this years FIFA 08 - One word for me - REALISM. FIFA have studied very hard over the last few years and by jove i think they have cracked it. The most important thing for me is for a game to feel real, and with all the licences, a good host of stadiums and fantastic commentary and crowd atmosphere it delivers a real sense of realism. I tried to do a Ronaldo type trick with a Leyton Orient Player and no way did it work - and no way should it as their is a difference in class and the game finally reflects this. When your Arsenal you can pass the ball around beautifully and conjour up moves that even the great Wenger would be proud of. Yes the gameplay is a little slower but it truly reflects how the beautiful game should be played. Gone are the days of thumping opponents 8 nill hitting from the same sweet spot every time and the computer learns how you play and adapts itself to try and stop you - you really have to concentrate as one mistake and you are actually punished. You must get your passes together and build up clever moves to unlock the opposition - making goals a real treat when they come. The shooting system feels so natural now, going through on goal and actually picking your spot whether it be in the top corner or an angled drive into the bottom corners which we all love to watch in real life. The heading has been vastly improved resulting in some cracking goals. There are room for improvments but i think thats a good thing as its something to build on for next year. Also worth a mention is the Incredible be a PRO mode - what a fantastic idea, taking control of your own player, making your own runs and screaming for the ball in the six yard box, even though when it did come i smashed it over. If you want to play real football FIFA is undoubtly the winner this year. I downloaded PRO EVO and was shocked to hear weird arcade music which you used to hear from Street Fighter days. Gameplay is very smooth and very quick but feels so Arcadey - if you can understand what that is. proper football games are not played at 100mph again a poor reflection on the real Game and also the same problem of no licences etc remains. I want to be REAL teams with Proper names and proper Leagues and tournaments - not the bloody Master League.
FIFA has finally developed a REAL football engine to go with the stunning visuals and sounds. For years ive always said why can't we have a game with Pro Evos football engine and Fifa's graphics but now it appears that FIFA is almost there with both. For years FIFA has played catch up to the fantastic Pro series which undoubtly hasn't changed much in the last few years. I have no doubt that Die hard Pro fans will enjoy this years installment and will probably hate FIFA but thats because it feels weird going from a game which runs so fast to a game that runs more tactically and real. For the first time ever i will not be buying Pro Evolution as AT LAST FIFA have finally delivered us a really decent football engine to match the stunning graphics, giving all football lovers a real sense of the Beautiful Game

             Pro evo is in trouble!!!

I am a pes player and have been playing both demos and i keep finding myself going back to play fifa. This year it has surpassed my expectation as i do not normally like fifa but i am more than impressed. The animations are spot on the graphics out of this world for a footie game and it is now hard to score its all there for it to be successful. Pes on the other hand as more or less stayed the same graphics are fairly poor the gameplay is still good but just seems konami have not been looking at what fifa have been up to this year i fell this fifa will convert a lot of football fans.

So another year and another FIFA. And every year we all get excited and think "surely they must have gotten it right this time".

Every thing would suggest that actually this year they have too! All the forums are buzzing with both FIFA and PES fans discussing the new BALL PHYSICS, how difficult it is to score and the new BE A PRO MODE that lets you take control of a single players career. You can even create your player. Sounds prety good.

Upon loading you are greeted with Ronaldinho with the ball and the camera is behind him. You can control the player and do little tricks and try to score against the goal keeper. pretty cool for a menu screen but havent we seen it before? Oh wait yes - in FIFA 07! I moved "RONNY" about and to be honest couldnt really feel much diffence in controls. i got bored after 30 secfonds and jumped in to the main game.

I fired up the manager mode - they have tons of teams from all over europe including the top four from england. I plumped for 2nd division side chesterfield created my manager and off we go.

            |The main screen is identical to the previous version including transfer market, the experience point system etc. The currency system is finally real cash and not points so FIFA scores in that regard.

I look at my team and dont reconise a single player so jump straight into the match. First game of the season. Im greeted by some famous commentator (not motty) and the boring andy gray. The commentary is pretty good but i know its going to get boring and repettitive and i press A to skip to the kick off.

My team start with the ball and now im finally in control - now i can see what all the fuss is about. So what is it ike to play?

Its exactly the same as all the others. the ball physics have changed but its still stuck too players feet. You can change passing shooting etc to manual but it makes it impossible to even pass rthe ball.

When the oppposition have possession one player seems to keep the ball and turns around in circles 5 times beating your defender. I scored in my first match with my centre back 30 yards out after their keeper saved my first dozen point blank shots.

i lost my first match 5 - 3. Bear in mind its my first match and i score 3 goals.

Maybe its because ijm playing a low division team - i fired up the quick match - England vs Germany. Wow!

I see a pattern emerging here - its EXACTLY the same as lower league matches exept the p[layers run a bit faster. Oh well. All is not lost maybe the BE A PRO mode is the saviour?

BE A PRO - basically promises that you can create your own player and control only him ( yes im aware PES had the option to do this years ago) however you can control the life outside of the game like in that amazibng cheap PC game I cant remember what its called.

I was pretty excited by this - and loaded up the mode - I was greeted by the option - BE A PRO it then asked me to choose a team? Not to create a player. I could choose England or Man UTD or Burnley etc - any team i liked - so I went for england.

I choose ashley cole as he represents my position. The game kicks off and your treated to a crappy camera angle behind your player. Zoomed out really far - you cant see the ball and if you stray away from the player your marking a little red light lets you know - in the first half i touched the ball once. and i passed it. WOW amazing.

NO option to create a player, NO signing for a crappy team and working your way up - NOTHING. its just one game you play as that player.

            RUBBISH - its totally flawed.

So thats it in a nutshell really. The game plays identically to every previous version of FIFA ever. The gameplay hasnt improved since 1995.

             PROEVO FAN NO MORE!

purchased this game on release day after playing both footie dmos on xbl! pro evolution soccer 2008 was horrendous. Ridiculously fast and fake gameplay. I completely loved pro evo 6 which in whole got bad reviews but had much more realistic gameplay than this the new demo. So anyway, the new fifa to put it simple without doubt plays the most realsitic game of football imaginable. Superb graphics, fantastic pace to the game, midfield betlles, players cant sprint up the wing with ashley cole all the way from back to front. You really have to play say 10 to 20 passes to even create a chance in most instances. if you want to play a realistic football game with non cricket score lines then this is for you. higly reccomended. best footy game yet. better than proevo 6 and much much better than pes 2008 going by the demo. And I never thought i would say this about a fifa game. Usualy despise fifa games. Fifia 07 was dreadful but this is shher class.!!!!!!!!!!!

alway buy both games every year. this year as last year fifa looks to be the better going from the demos. fifa has the better grathics as you would expect. pes still not up to next geartion, still at least there better than last year. game play pes the same as ever and thats the problem i put the demo on and won 5-0 6-0 and 5-0 in my first three games, its just the same old game with a squad up date. nothing new, konomi seem to have got to conftabel. i played the fifa demo and got beat 2-0 off red bull and i was barcalona i kepped playing ea have realy gone to town this yaer no longer can you press threw ball any more and be clean trew every time its all about timing. goal keppers have realy i proved and make more realistic saves shooting much better as well. games a lot slower than fifa 07 not played at a millon mile an houre, witch means you have to work for you chances, buy passing and skill not just giving it to a fast player and runing past ever one. the game is lot harder this year witch so you wont have a 100% record in the league at the end of season. this all adds up to the game having a longer life span. all in all i will be buying both games this year pes is not terribel i just expected them to have pushed the boundres this year. down load both demos and make your own mind up
