Firstly, i am massive gta fan and absolutely devote my gaming life to it's series. I really only picked up saints row 1 to see me through to gta 4's release. However i came to like it, really like it. It is the arcadey opposite to gta's realism but this is by no means bad. So...
Saints row 2 - boasting massive freedom, rivalling gta san andreas' freedom was my impression. So after playing it....
I love it!
~Really easy driving using the lt to brake. Bikes (esp. Peewee!) are great
~Customisation of cribs/ character is great fun.
~Shooting is greatly improved from saints row 1 - dual wield, improved accuracy response, gore:d
~Little things like mini games, buying drugs/drink etc are still there and expanded upon.
~ Added difficulty level selection is good for the hardcore and recreational gamer's alike.
In general amazing fun, which is why it get's all 5*. The graphics may not be improved but, hey, gta: San andreas is still a 5* imo cos it's fun.
:D
I paid full price for this on pre-order as I was a huge fan of the first game, so a little annoyed at how low it is now :-( Been playing for some time now, and wow! It has all the great points of the first game, and seems to have ironed out a lot of the bad points like having to replay a whole mission with no checkpoints. Other improvements are autosave and much improved graphics and character customization. If you have never played the first, it's basically GTA with attitude! You return as your 'hero' from the first game, busting out of jail to find a world that has changed massively whilst you have been away. One small problem, it has frozen on me a couple of times, but not sure if that's my 360 or the game. I bought this version rather than the basic version, however not sure if it was worth the extra cash, however 5 stars all the way!
I don't understand!! Saints row 1 was pretty good, great handling of vehicles and graphics for its day, but saints row 2, the handling is terrible, steering is to quick, cars are too big, detail on vehicles suck. Graphics not as good as the first one... Its seems they sacrificed everything for a bigger map.. Bad move guys...
Save money and buy the 1st saints row as the only thing which is really new here is the planes and choppers.
Oh and as for achievements? I've played for an hour now and have not got a single achievement yet
I spent many a hour playing gta4 and basking in its superb attention to detail! But then i got saints row 2, crude graphics and bugged to hell! Why does saints row 2 win?
The playability wipes the floor with gta4, the games humour is every where, the missions are so funny and rewarding. If it had gta4's graphics this would have beat gta4 easily! Enough said go out and get it now!
I don't get people who say this game is to short, there are 58 missions, loads of strongholds, lots of side missions and mini side missions called diversions. I completed the main story in about 8 hours but in between the missions i did fight club, fuzz etc. Theres atleast 20 hours of gameplay for people who get bored easily.
Customisation is grate, wish there had been more gang styles.
My game froze a few times and so did others but this may be due to overplay
The cars are better than the old one, more customising including spikes that come out of the tires, great for popping police tires.
Story is great, gat is hilarious .
