Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is an explosive open-world action game set in a massive, highly reactive, war-torn world.

When a power-hungry tyrant messes with Venezuela's oil supply he sparks an invasion that turns the country into a warzone. But for you, international crisis is all upside: you are a mercenary, and you profit from chaos. Mercenaries 2 features a slew of potential clients, all willing to pay you to do their dirty work. These are world powers with deep pockets, deep grudges, and enough arms and ammo to start World War III. This is your kind of environment.

Mercenaries 2 features the latest and most dangerous in civilian and military tech, everything from shiny new sports cars, to the future-tech satellite-guided bunker-busting mini-nuke. Tanks, APCs, boats, luxury automobiles - you name it, you can have it delivered to you in real-time. And if you run out of cash you can always 'acquire' the gear you need in the field.

If you see it, you can buy it, steal it, or blow the living crap out of it. Play your own way, or play with the help of a friend in the new co-op multiplayer mode.

You are not a soldier. You don't have to play by anyone's rules. You have your own code: you will fulfill the terms of the contract, no matter what. Not everyone in the world of Mercenaries is as honorable. Everyone will try and screw you, given the chance. They think they can get away with it, but they don't know rule #1 for mercenaries: everyone pays!

Work for the Highest Bidder: You decide which factions to work for and when. From one-off pick-up jobs to complex multi-objective missions your choices will decide how the game progresses and which faction wins the war.

New Toys: Over 130 vehicles from civilian cars to tanks and choppers plus all the destructive weaponry you can handle from pistols to rocket launchers.

Next Gen Destruction: Take down any building in the world piece by piece and see them crumble with fantastic effects. Not just cool to look at, destruction can be used to take out enemy forces and change the landscape of the battlefield.

Massive Open World: Play across cities, jungles, lakes, mountains and a range of terrain in between throughout a Venezuela that is larger than all the Mercenaries maps combined.

Online Co-op Multiplayer: You no longer have to go it alone. Invite a friend to jump in and help you fight your way to the top.

         EA strikes again.

EA pushed the release of this game far too early, it's laden with bugs and glitches stretching from insignificant graphical anomalies to gameplay breaking issues.

The gunplay is utterly dire, bullets spread ridiculously with weapons that should be fairly accurate, deploying air strikes and other 'specials' causes your character to stand still which can be horribly frustrating if you're being shot at by a tank.

For those of you with friends on XBOX Live from America or countries outside your own, don't expect to be able to play with them, as EA hosts the online CO-OP servers and they are region locked.

The missions are horribly repetetive, and the sandbox mayhem becomes stale very quickly.

If money is no object to you, it's probably a better than average game, the developers had good intentions but I'm going to assume the blame for the features removed (jet planes, etc) and the multitude of bugs and unpolished missions are EA's fault for pushing an early release date on Pandemic.

If you're on a budget, steer clear of this game, save your cash for Fallout 3 or Fable 2, or even Star Wars: TFU.

WILL PEOPLE JUST ENJOY THE GAME

Omg: Come on people. Stop comparing it to gta. Gta is all about realism and mercenaries is just about entertainment. People are so picky these days that they want the most amazing graphics ever, gameplay that lasts for weeks and perfect aiming. But guess what it aint gonna happen. Just enjoy the game for what it is. And it does what it is meant to do extremely well. Nothing wrong with the graphics and if graphics determine your games then you have no idea. Gameplay is brilliant and addictive, i have had no aiming issues and suprise, suprise the people who complained about the aiming had gta. They are just to used to being pampered with auto aim. Mercs is addictive and there is always something to do. A huge array of explosive goodies. And a very well designed map and travel system. Missions are entertaining and capturing high value targets never gets old. Co-op is brill and acheivements draw you in then say "okay you have gotta few, work for the rest". Helicopters are a welcome addition and the huge array of them is great. Lots or replay value.
So dont be a fool. Do wht i did which was have huge expectations for gta, buy it and then think,"how can u go so badly wrong" and trade in gta after a hour of play because of the boring realism. And then purchase mercs and think. Yep this is a more entertaining game. So people stop sucking up to rockstar. And give a decent game a chance. Instead of just stickin to what everyone else plays.

I think I am not as critical of this game as some of the other reviews as I never played the original. For me this is a brand new game...... and what a good one! The closest game to this is GTA, however it is also totally different. You can free roam, have missions to complete, but that's where the similarity ends. A seemingly endless selection of weapons and vehicles which you can use to kill, destroy and generally cause as much havoc with as you can possibly imagine! (MOAB's are great fun!) The vehicles and weapons are pretty easy to use and with lots of side contracts, you can just veer away from the main storyline and just keep blowing things up as much as you like. Had it less than a week, and completed it last night, this game has caused many a late night! My only criticisms are that I have found a few annoying bugs where a HVT 'disappears', buildings blow up and you cant get out and buildings that are totalled still show as not destroyed, and the last 2 missions are maybe a bit too easy, especially compared to some of the ones in the middle of the game, but these are not nearly enough of an issue to move it away from 5 stars! (and I haven't even played online yet!)

         Must Buy Game!

This game is awesome, it graphics are unbelievable!! The co-op play is the best makes the game easier to work through working as a team (unless your partner blows your truck up and kills who your trying to save with a grenade - like mine did!!) weapons are really cool could be more choice though but there's some strange costumes!! Couple of glitches but does not take away from the game at all....this game is unbelievably good and if your thinking about buying it....i say but it now!! Best game ever!!
