In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story.

Mirror's Edge delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith's world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous. Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run. From the makers of the groundbreaking 'Battlefield' franchise, Mirror's Edge is an action-adventure experience unlike any other.

Move Yourself: String together an amazing arsenal of wall-runs, leaps, vaults and more, in fluid, acrobatic movements that turns every level of the urban environment to your advantage and salvation.

Immerse Yourself: In first-person every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt. Heights create real vertigo, movements flow naturally, collisions and bullet impacts create genuine fear and adrenaline.

Challenge Yourself: Fight or flight. Your speed and agility allow you not only to evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents, in a mix of chase, puzzles, strategy and intense combat.

Free Yourself: Runner vision allows you to see the city as they do. See the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, opportunities and escape routes. The flow is what keeps you running - what keeps you alive.

       A Refreshing Change of Pace

It's great to see development studios being so innovative, especially one as well known as DICE. Mirror's Edge is a great game and will hopefully show others that being innovative isn't necesarily as big a risk as it could be, especially in the current knock off after knock off state that the gaming industry is getting into.

The graphics are incredible and actually seeing vibrant colours being used in a game once again is a refreshing change from the usual grey tone. The 1st person perspective makes sense from a gameplay point of view though there is alot of bobbing, shaking and swaying going on which wound up giving me a headache after only a few hours (one of the first games where this has actually happened).

As for the story I didn't find it to be all that interesting and it unfortunately ended up being a little too short too. There are a lot of points during it too where it just becomes so frustrating constantly dying over and over again... it makes you feel as if the dev's purposely did this to lengthen the game. There are also certain points along the story where it forces you into combat, though this mixes up the game it can get a little annoying as Faith (the character you play) can't take a lot of damage. The ending to the game actually made me think "is that it?".

After my disappointment at the story I found the Speed Run and Time Trial modes which is the point at which you realise these were what the game was made for. I can see myself spending hours upon hours just perfecting routes on levels and downloading other peoples runs off of Live to find new ways I would've missed. Not to mention trying to beat those same people ;) The game is all about proper timing and keeping a steady momentum going - achieving a quick time on a perfect run can be very very rewarding. The fact that you can string together different moves along with the timing and momentum factor really makes the game a lot more deep then it originally seems which will only benefit the game more in the long run.

Mirror's Edge is definitaly one of those games you'll want to keep in your collection if not for it's innovation then it's addictive Time Trial mode which will keep sucking you back in just to shave that tenth of a second off your highest time.

This demo is probably the best demo I've played this year. I've just pre-ordered it so that I can play the time-trial in the demo. The game looks set to be one of the best of the year as well and I doubt it can disappoint by seeing the demo. The gun handling is indeed lacking something but it's great to see a game that isn't all about combat. Definitely got an Assassin's Creed touch to it, but it's simply head and shoulders above AC. I hope the story line can match the truly inspired gameplay.

       Now That's What I Call Next-Gen

My greatest concern was that Mirror's Edge would be a big let down and end up being a semi-controllable platformer, like Assassin's... boy was I wrong. Never have I played a game where I felt so in control of the character's movements. You will find yourself bending your own knees when going into a big jump! Visually this game is stunning. The First Person experience has been taking to the next generation. Judging by the demo (which I can't put down) this game looks like it will be fun but challenging. Yeah, the combat doesn't seem to be the best but this game isn't about fighting your way through, it's about running. The chases are pure adrenaline and the soundtrack and the 5.1 compliment that massively. If you haven't yet, download the demo and I can guarantee come 14/11/08 you will be forking out a worthy £39.99. This is a game like no other.

Mirrors, edge is Brilliant and Unique.
Its graphics while not great in a high detail way, they are fantastic in its lighting and Strong Colours. It's Presentation and gameplay are just Superb, its Fast paced action which Flows so smoothly its actually satisfying,
Too bad the Story is told through Comic book style and not very well portrayed. it's story had potential
The game is pretty short, and has next to No replay value. you will soon grow sick and tired trying to outdo yourself in the time trials, and grow tired of the game 8-10 hours down the line.

      + Totally Original
      + Fantastic Flowing Gameplay
      +Stunning Settings
      +Good Story - Badly Yold
      - No Replay Value
      - Short

       Best Game Ever!

I really cant describe just how good this game is, it has everything you could possibly want + something no other game has. For a start i cannot compare it to any other game on the 360, it offers suck a unique game experiance and it really takes skill to become good at free running on the game. If this sounds a bit boring to you, the game also offers frequant combat using melee attack and also guns, its up to you if you fight or run. Although the campain is rather short there are time trails and speedruns to keep you occupied after the main story is over, and if you are competetive person you can put your fastest times on a leaderboard and race against other people 'ghosts',
Overall i would say this is the best game i have ever played, 10/10
