BioShock is a revolution in the shooter genre that will forever change the expectations for the FPS. Going beyond "run and gun corridors," "monster-closet AIs" and static worlds, BioShock creates a living, unique and unpredictable FPS experience. BioShock is the Shooter 2.0.

After your plane crashes into icy uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.
  • Take control of your world by hacking mechanical devices, commandeering security turrets and crafting unique items critical to your very survival.
  • Upgrade your weapons with ionic gels, explosives and toxins to customize them to the enemy and environment.
  • Genetically modify your body through dozens of Plasmid Stations scattered throughout the city, empowering you with fantastic and often grotesque abilities.
  • Explore a living world powered by Ecological A.I., where the inhabitants have interesting and consequential relationships with one another that impact your gameplay experience.
  • Experience truly next generation graphics that vividly illustrate the forlorn art deco city, highlighted by the most detailed and realistic water effects ever developed in a video game.
  • Make meaningful choices and mature decisions, ultimately culminating in the grand question: do you exploit the innocent survivors of Rapture... or save them?

Bioshock is quite simply amazing.

It is probably the most atmospheric game I have played. The game oozes quality from the very start.

1stly the demo available on Xbox live is basically the 1st level with a few aditions. But the demo gives you a really good idea of whats to come. The moment you surfice from the plane crash you can see attention to detail. Take the water droplets on the camera, each one refracts to light around you giving a very realistic view of the image. The flames work beautifully and the sinking plane bubbles the ocean. You look up at the light house and the fog adds to the vista. All this on the very first level and you will only see it for a few seconds.

The world of Rapture is stunning sight from the very start. It's the little details the amaze me. As you go down to Rapture a film plays with great voice acting as this film plays watch the particules of dust float in the air. These litttle details could have been skipped, but they didn't and they add to this amazing atmosphere that is created.

The sound track both musical and effects wise is top notch. Each item has it's own tick, click and buzz. The voice acting is perfect and the music is of the 30's or 40's period and works extremely well.

The bads guys are nuts and hard to kill. They appear to dodge well and attack from many angles, they even run away to recharge or get medical help then come back to hit you again. This is done extremely well. The big Daddy is a sight to see and some what disturbing with thier little sisters. Daddy's are tough mothers (????), but once you have one down you can get a bucket load of cash and then either harvest or save the little sister. As yet I haven't had the heart to harvest a little sister, I am having trouble with the idea you kill this little girl. Once you save, one they some times give you a little item and then go hide in these strange holes.

Not only do you have some interesting weapons, you have these special powers called Plasmids. The 1st of which is electric bolt which stuns people with electricity so you can hit or shoot them. If a baddy is standing in water this immediately kills them. And there are some great variations of plasmids fire, freeze, bees etc. The trick is to use them with a weapon for best effect, all are fun and very satisfying.

There are the sentries you can hack. These things will either kill you or you hack them to protect you. Another great addition to an already varied game.

I am playing on hard, and boy is it hard. You can save when and where ever you want and once you get killed you are reborn in Vita Chambers. So effectively you never really die, just get reborn. But it's still bloody hard.

A true quality game. More than worthy of any Xbox 360 owners collection. May even be game of ther year, but thats going to be a tough one with Halo 3, COD 4 and all the others coming out in the next 2-3 months. You know, I reckon those poor saps the only own a PS3 are truly missing out here, maybe it'e time they went and bought a console that actually has games for it. My PS3 is a dusty ornament on the shelf next to my Xbox 360 thats getting over used.

Buy this game, if you don't own a 360 go buy one and then buy this game.

 Very good, while it lasts.

What we have here is a standard 3rd person shooter, albeit a very atmospheric one. The story is good, and depending on what you do there are two outcomes. Sound is used very effectively, with spooky effects and 20s music. Graphically it's nothing amazing, it looks good - but could easily have been a PS2 game. The 3D world is reasonably large, and there are a variety of weapons - but it is a pretty short game. I played it for about an hour a day and completed it in under a week. Once it's finished there's nothing else to do, no more to explore and no online play. With a little more depth it would have been a five star game.

 Amazing Graphics and Gameplay..and BIGDADDY!!

Downloaded demo, Amazing graphics, didn't really want to like this game, I knew it was coming out for a while but I just didn't fancy it, looked too weird and I don't do weird..well its good, NO its great, very atmospheric..which most games aren't, its like being in a creepy nightmare, exploring the city of Rapture underwater, plenty of weird and wonderful weapons at your disposal, and your own weird powers you can get throughout the game, setting people on fire, electrocuting them, and this is the demo..You can't go wrong here download demo try it out..then buy it I'm sure you will...oh and the water effects are amazing..downloaded it yet...go on..

Completely over-rated game. Wish I had had the patience to download the demo before buying it. Instead I trusted the hundreds of over-the-top reviews online.

I was impressed with the opening sequence and then was bored after half an hour. I have absolutely no urge to play it. I find it repetitive and pointless.

I say this in comparison to Gears. The first time I played that game the graphics blew me away, and kept on impressing me throughout. I was genuinely excited and scared at points by some of the sequences.

All the gamplay in Bioshock (uptil now) is in a closed environment, therefore you do not get the impressive landscapes and huge characters like you get in Gears.

Simply not playable, challenging or exciting enough for me.

Best Game I've Played All Year!

This is such an awesome game I would advise anyone to get it as long as they are up for a challenge. You dont have to play the game in a straight line, in every little area there is soo much to explore and discover to uncover the secrets of what happened before you arrived in rapture.

Enemies aren't just simply placed in certain areas either, they are free to roam the underwater city so they might turn up anywhere.

Also there is so many different ways to upgrade yourself and make your weapons better, this game really keeps you on the edge of your seat, as sometimes you'll have full health, full ammo, full everything and you've got it when you need it most or are just exploring other times you might find yourself low on everything and turn round the corner to find a big daddy.

Plus the graphics and sound to the game are stunning, adding to the dark, damp and dindgey atmosphere.

AWESOME
