  A step back in Time

This was the 3rd game I played on the PS 1 after Doom and Resident Evil, fantastic.
This is a brillaint re-make and with the new Tomb Raider due out in 2012, this is a great game to play now to see where it all started.
I recently down loaded the original on my sons PSP, some difference lol.
Buy it, you'll love it.

Tomb Raider Nostalgia fest - an old classic reborn

| | See all Slim01's reviews (6)

if you played and enjoyed the origianl, this will be a complete nostalgia fest. from the first scen where the guy gets owned by wolves, or turning to lara gold by trying to figure out what to do with midas hand!!

all the levels have been made from the original tomb raider which is great, puzzels are the best ive played in a recent tomb raider, but the storyline was better in LEgend, and the graphics and moves were better in underworld.

if uve not played it yet then id suggest playing legend 1st, as its only a fiver. but dont expect the same thing here, anniversarey lacks the action that legend and underworld offer.

  Excellent Remake

i would say, not quite the not quite the same playing it a second time round, but when you first have a bash at it, it delivers the feel of exploring and never knowing whats gonna jump out at you and when, so get your guns out at ever corner. A true remake of the original this is what all TR games should be.
I give it 1 off a 5 star purely because the graphics aren't up to scratch but still a must buy for any TR fan

  Why did Lara do that??

Good game but gets a bit too hard as game goes on, spoils enjoyment and gets a bit silly really. Drakes fortune is better for me.

stunning original remade and remade very well!

My relationship with the Tomb Raider series was relatively brief. I loved the original i had on the old Sega Saturn (triangle tits!) and played the sequel on the playstation but hated it. After that i also played very briefly the 3rd one and that put me off for good.

The reason i bought this remake was purely because the original was absolutely amazing and an absolute classic. I wasnt disappointed. The best thing is that the game isnt just a conversion with nicer graphics, but the game is remade properly. The game is different, yet hasnt lost all the best bits of the original. If anything its deeper and more engaging! there are many new puzzles, and areas which incorporate Lara's new grapple/rope into it.

graphically its not great compared to other 360 games, but i suppose its to remain faithful to the fact this is a remake of an old 32bit game (from 1996). its not mind blowing, but for its purpose it works really well. the controls can be a slightly fiddly (especially old school gamers like me who never played Tomb Raider on analouge) but you get used to it.

Honestly, this is a game everyone should own. Old fans will enjoy it because its different yet retains the goodness of the original, and new fans will enjoy it for the same reasons! Stunning first game, even more stunning remake.

Worst graphics on a computer game ever, game is alright but the graphics let this game down big time!

for the person who asked does it come with a bonus disc, yes it does. this game has decent graphics and good gameplay. the achievements are hard to get apart from the weapon ones.

This is easily one of my all-time favourite games! I loved the first Tomb Raider for the PS1 but was put off the series when they started taking out the actual 'tomb raiding' element. Lara became a city girl and i didn't like that. As an old school Lara fan, i was very very impressed with this game! It stays true to the original while updating it significantly. The achievements are challenging to get and the 360 version even comes with a bonus content DVD, whereas with other versions you need to buy the special editions. A truly fantastic game! I can't wait for Underworld! Bring back the old school Lara!!
