Odin's daughter Freya, goddess of love and wisdom, is appointed the task of stopping Hel and defending the future of mankind. For her champion she chooses Skarin, a great but troubled young warrior, ignorant of the true reason for his favour with the Gods and thrust into the midst of their bitter war.

As Skarin, players will experience unparalleled battle scenes, leading the charge in a titanic clash between powerful gods and mere men. War on an unprecedented scale will rage across a beautifully realised Viking landscape. Vast, living islands, free form worlds filled with discovery, stealth, brutal combat and culminating in epic battles the like of which have never been seen on console before.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

The Story of a Viking Hero - Skarin is an uncompromising force. A play-thing of the gods rebelling against their selfish agenda. The definitive Viking warrior.

Rich Viking Lore - The violent and glorious world of Viking mythology brought to stunning life. Players will write their own legends to be told around the campfire.

Vast Open World Environments - Explore, uncover and fight your way across huge next-gen worlds full of combat, exploration and quests.

High Impact, Brutal Combat Engine - Experience intensely physical melee combat. Dismember enemies with deadly combat moves in a whirlwind of death.

Mythical Powers - Tame dragons and command them to rain fire upon your enemies. Call on magic and the power of the gods to win the mortal war.

Free Your People - Liberate your Viking kinsmen from the clutches of Hel. Earn their trust and their sword arm. Fight alongside them in battle.

Epic Battles - Lay the foundations for huge battles featuring hundreds of dynamic NPC warriors. Subtly influence the battle through targeted assassination or wade in to save stricken allies. Become one amongst many and turn the tide in favour of your kinsmen.

               Fun, but nothing special

A good game, but never really reaches the promised potential. Visually its fine, not astounding - theres some very bland textures on display, and the opportunity to showcase some exciting and dynamic environment design only flashes up on occasion. For the most part its large open expanses of brown paths and green grass, which although fairly nicely done could have been improved with a bit more effort. The sea is nice though, but swimming is not your burly vikings strong point.....Visually its very reminiscent of Overlord. Not a bad thing, but not the highest complement.

Combat is decent enough, just the right side of button bashing, and nicely gorey, if slightly repetitive. Enemies can be hard to see as your crystal light only illuminates a 3ft radius around the character which can be annoying. Enemies are completely idiotic, no brains at all, generally attacking one at a time or not noticing you slice the arms off a companion stood next to them. The larger battles are fairly spectacular to be involved in but can descend into a mess of characters and dodgy framerate.

Sound design is woeful - barely any ambience at all bar footsteps and birds. Battles are conducted mostly in near silence which detracts from the world a fair bit. Story is guff, but simple enough to get on board with. Its all simple enough fare, with a certain charm to keep you slicing and dicing and collecting gold, but more of a renter to be fair.

Amazing game, The moves, the enemy the allies the landscape. All excellent. The ONLY thing i dont like is the camera angle. Other than that really good.

this is a great action game with lots of slaughtering the undead. Lots to do and very easy achievements too. Also some of the biggest battles with hundreds of enemies on screen at once!

               Fun Viking romp

I always thought Vikings were from Denmark , but this game has told me they were actually from Somerset , this little faux pas aside , this game reminded me of a game I had called barbarian 2 for the amiga back in the 2D ,16bit days . You are a Viking , who has been chosen by the gods to defeat Hel , who is loki's sister (a Norse god trouble maker ) on the way you have to save your kins men , who have been captured by Hel's minions , and are to be found scattered around the land , whilst battling vairing sizes of nasties , at certain points in the game you can call up an army to fight for you , to speed up your progress , you find teleport points which are most useful ( and save shoe leather ) you can also buy fighting moves , and you end up looking for a big fight just to see what each one does , or , how much blood and body parts you can spill on the floor , don't get too carried away as the enemy can surround you very quickly . oh I forgot to mention , you get dragons on your side ! A great fun game to have in your collection , see how many baddies you can get chasing you
